You probably don't want to read the generic content that everyone else is posting, so I'll just say that Squared Adventure has finally been released. You can play it here:: Squared Adventure. It's a 2D puzzle platformer, pixel art, retro, indie, puzzle, action, no action, wtvr game with beautiful graphics taken from the asset store and a terrible code that thankfully you won't see.
Features:
- Charming single player gameplay with no need to rush.
- A small yet beautiful world to explore.
- Logical puzzles with different mechanics.
- Some enemies to not make the game too easy ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).
- Trampolines.
While playing, I came across a few problems that I don't know if you are aware of.
- The story images at the beginning disappear too fast, so it can be difficult to read all the text on the screen.
- After dying, after being reborn, I could not move and could only jump.
- The player can get stuck very easily, it happened to me several times and each time I had to restart the whole game. It would be great if you added the option to reload the level or exit the game with the Escape button.
I also have some ideas for possible improvements, this is just my opinion.
- The sounds are quite odd to be honest, sometimes too loud and sometimes they don't fit the scene. And I don't mean background sounds and music but walking sound or the sound of the big crab chasing the player.
- The movement is a bit weird and rigid - for example you can only crouch when you move, you can't crouch while standing, which made me get stuck under a tree once.
- Some sort of barrier could be placed on the edge of the map, so the player can't fall off what has happened to me.
I enjoyed the game, especially its atmospheric, great looking graphics in both 2D and 3D. Another very good thing about the game was its music, which gave it a very dark and kind of a horror feel.
Don't get me wrong after all I wrote, I really enjoyed the game, but it needs a bit of polishing, especially when it comes to the movement mechanics. I look forward to seeing the next versions of the game if you plan to develop it further.
Thx, I'm currently working on a game: https://crazy-potato-game-studio.itch.io/squared, but I can certainly do some art if I have some time. Depends what you want me to do.
