Hi :) There are a couple of nasty bugs in this release, and I'm so sorry about that! It was a little rushed and there are a couple of dependencies that shouldn't be there and an edge case that isn't handled well when upgrading from 0.4.
I'm working on an update that should fix the issues, will upload it tonight or tomorrow.
It should work fine on 3.2.x :) Despite the release numbering being lower, Workbench from 3.2.x is a newer version and is backwards compatible with Workbench from 3.9 and 3.5.
Nice mockup :) I think something like that is more in the realm of Lister from OS4, which implements the icon drawing etc. itself, and offers features like the path gadget. Perhaps someone can backport Lister to 3.2 some time... Nice icons though :) When I get back to working on it I'll implement the user-defined toolbars.
Thanks very much for your nice comments :) Yeah, there's a lot more that can be done, we had plenty of ideas that we just didn't have time to get in there. The engine took a lot more time to develop than I'd hoped, which left us short of time for the rest. Bribes for the police, changing palette with the time, street lights / lights in windows were all in the plan along with more types of NPCs, extra ways of passing time by going for a nap, a bigger map with unlockable areas and so on. We do plan to continue development so at some point these features will hopefully appear :)
So you did, a proper good go too :) Thank you! And I'm glad you were able to sort it out - with Amiga things, so many users have been Amiga users for probably decades, it's very easy to take for granted that someone knows their way around the machine and emulators... I should point out that it's still unfinished and there's a lot that didn't make it in before the deadline, but will be added in time.
Well, Amiga emulation is a complex thing as Amigas themselves cover a range of hardware and configurations. Ideally, you would set the emulator up as an A1200 with a fast CPU, 2MB of chip RAM, 4MB of fast RAM, and you'd need to have Amiga OS already installed and working to play the game since it's not in floppy disk image format. That can be a bit overwhelming if you're not already familiar with the Amiga ecosystem, so I'd maybe suggest finding a preconfigured hard drive image.
An alternative option is AmigaLive, which is a preconfigured bundle including FS-UAE that's set up for playing online but can also play single-player games. WeegieNights has just been added to the AmigaLive bundle I believe (in the Blitz Basic Game Jam 2022 bundle), so it might be the simplest way to get started.
Thanks for the comments :) I haven't noticed any issues like that, but I'll check it out. Just in case though, you need to be quite close to the NPCs to interact with them - basically overlapping them. And to open shop menus, you need to push the joystick towards the shop front while pressing fire - possibly the emulator setup has an issue with multiple keypresses? You can also try keyboard controls, using arrow keys and space instead of a joystick.
