I totally understand it. The main point of Emma's part being there is just for showcasing cleaning mechanics of the second character. Full game will be a slightly different than the demo. You are absolutely right. There are some things that make no sense...yet. Allison is a first character and demo is not fully finished yet. 

You will play as Emma (reception lady) after Allison's part ends. Then things start making sense one by one.

I don't get it. Are you asking for a Steam key because it downloads slow?

Do you know this is a demo? You don't need a Steam key to play it and it's available on Steam, too.
