While my issue is resolved and personally I would hate to bother bumping this thread, I do think you raised a valid concern.
From what I had noticed the user I had an issue with (Probably not the same one you dealt with per say) tried to make an alternate account a few months back. For the most part I did ignore him and just reported him to the mods but what did bamboozle me is how the hell he managed to get away with being able to do so under the same username.
Personally in hindsight I realize there is some importance to ignoring some people but even then, the fact that people are allowed to do this is problematic. Then again I haven't really been on here too frequently compared to some other communities I frequently go to just because the whole incident did raise more concerns than nothing else and it makes me hesitant to really be on here when I got shit to do.
I'm not sure both your concern and mine come down to a staffing issue, because I did have to make multiple reports in my situation but needless to say sometimes you really have to pester the mods... which realistically you shouldn't have to do that.

This is not our problem.
Really I have no understanding in why people complain about their problems with other websites on the ones they are currently on right in front of them. If you got banned from there then maybe the community is not the right one for you and you're better off going somewhere else.
The field of art is a competitive one, but it is rewarding in spite of that.
To answer your question, yes it is possible to be an artist and have the bear minimum use of social media and not have to interact with your fanbase. It might help you get exposure in the long run but you have to bear in mind that, as Hugues said it is a very tough career. You could probably get by on instagram if you don't want to get into the nonsense that is youtube which I wouldn't take seriously as a platform for a number of reasons.
That's acknowledging that Instagram is, in a sense pay to play. If you want to get a massive amount of followers you're likely going to have to boost your posts. Either that or make art based on dumb memes which... In my honest opinion is limiting to that respect.
My work with freelance has been more of a side thing as of late. As much as I would love to make it big I'm just not at that point where I feel that I can yet, but I can still do what I can to get whatever exposure and opportunities that can help me build my resume and skills while working a full time job. Not everyone is in a position to do this so it really depends on the amount of time you're able to have in order to focus on what you do to build up your artistic passions into a full time career.
If you were still wondering what was happened here in this thread: Determination709 got suspended for constantly being an idiot disregarding everyone's warnings and ChickmaTeam, the other account who was here left because of him.
I took a break from Itch.io as a result with only one post being made during that time otherwise I've been mostly inactive because of this whole situation. At this point it's far better to let the situation rest since it's done and over with.
One more post before I sign off for a couple of weeks since I noticed this post.
You are correct in saying that I should just ignore them, though sometimes that's easier said than done. Even with my experience on the internet being a little over 15 years I will admit with some humility that I still have my own work to do on improving that in my own personal growth.
I agree with what you are saying that said.
On another note correct me if I am wrong but don't terms of service agreements generally apply as contracts that are covered by Consumer Protection Laws? Even if businesses are allowed to change their terms of service as needed I would assume then that they are still obligated to uphold their end of the ToS for the users who agree to use their service until that time comes where they have to change the clauses and conditions found in said contract for service.
That said a social media service shouldn't favor one user when all users agree to the same contract to be on here. EVEN THEN, I would assume that ToS still is one of the overarching contracts that should disclose what is allowed and disallowed that go above generalized rules. That's putting aside all the nuances in how problematic users and situations such as this one came to light.
At that point all users would have to be held to the same standard the service expects them to abide by and what the users expect the service upholds the conditions that were provided upon registration.
While I appreciate you looking into this I will say that frankly I have my doubts that he is just a random troll and if he is he’s managed to be pretty convincing that he is 11.
EDIT: With the above stated most trolls I have encountered are generally more coherent no matter the kind of troll it is. There are nuances to that kind of problematic user but I do know that, someone who is more experienced at doing that kind of thing would at least try to put the effort into making sentences that at least make some sense no matter if they are the kind of troll out to offend someone or if they are the kind of troll that's doing it for shits and giggles. Just throwing that out there.
I will continue to abide by your requests as you are looking into this. However for the time being I will be off of itch.io. This whole deal has been frustrating me to no end and honestly, I just need the break.
I’m just going to leave this here.
You can tell leafo that I refuse to be a part of the community here since he has failed to uphold his side’s end of the Terms and Service he set in place, itch.io is in violation of US law by ignoring this kid’s age and not taking immediate action to resolve the problem despite the evidence being provided alone is enough for a legal case.
My actions in this don’t matter as much as itch’s inaction. I am done.
In response to the guy who reported RJ, you aren’t wrong and it is why I mentioned that this is leafo's problem along with the rest of the staff of itch.io.
They are in violation of US law because they aren’t honoring their end of the Terms of Service agreement just by allowing the kid here. Even if he was lying about his age, just saying that he is 11 is enough to get him banned and I already provided them the screenshots of him talking about it. That’s willful ignorance in my eyes and they’re going to get hit with a lawsuit one day if they don’t start considering the information presented to him.
EDIT: That being stated I am certain that the kid is being honest when he has said he is 11 at three times. I'm not going to sit around and continue to argue with him. That's a waste of my time and everyone else's.
That’s putting aside the double standards of how I noticed them handling the conflicts on here, that issue is between myself and them.
The thing is there wouldn't have been a need for anyone to confront him about his behaviors had the admins of itch just taken action to suspend his account the moment it was brought to light that he is 11.
Why they haven't yet is baffling. This isn't a case where they missed the boat as much as it is letting a fire burn out of control and not putting it out.
The behavior isn't consistent with just some troll online, but it is consistent with a kid who thinks he's the center of attention and the fact that he is openly admitting to ANYTHING about himself and his actions is troubling in of itself.
To be fair, I've already rubbed off on you the moment you said "hell" in response to Hallow_DFGC's comment. Not that he has anything to do with this.
It may not be a swear in of itself but it's still a curse word.
We all know no one likes swearing there's literally no reason to be telling someone unless they're doing it with excess or is being derogatory.
Then, accept your wrongdoing in the mess. Own up to the staff and who you have wronged over your petty drama.
You’re better off taking a two year ban than a permanent suspension. At the very least, you’ll have the time to reflect on why people treat you is because of how you treat them. That’s how I'd look at it if I were in your shoes.
Personally, I don’t care what you do at this point and no matter how harsh the criticism is, it’s the reality of the situation. Reality doesn’t care what you think or feel, the same would apply for me on and everyone else.
I’m not unbanning you from any of my posts or my website because I’m done being forgiving toward you. Why you insist on continuing this and bothering me in my news posts…. Totally beyond me when you could have left the situation alone when all was said and time the first time around none of this would have happened. Would have been better if you admitted your age the first time I asked.
I have nothing to do with your problem with the GDevelop jam you got banned from nor does anyone else. That was entirely on you for your own conduct from what I recall the staff telling you.
Alright, here's a wall of text.
If you're serious about trying to understand why I don't like you then READ THIS ENTIRE POST.
On the posts you have made the thing is I explicitly told you that I was indifferent to you on the exact post you decided to make everything about yourself on my status that was intended to be a 9/11 tribute. That action was severely insulting to me because of how close that tragedy hit home and I told you, I was offended.
But we could take this farther back to your first interaction I have made with you on your previous account where you have come off as disrespectful and spammed in other threads across Itch.io and got a warning for it. Then, out of nowhere you bring it up in a thread on the account you're currently on months after the fact it happened and decided to come after me when the situation was done and over when you could have just accepted the warnings.
But let's be real, you only decided to take this a step farther and that forced me to confront you on your age more times than I can count, and you cracked on admitting that you are in fact 11 and have stated that multiple times. I have taken screenshots of every post you have admitted to this fact. And I'm willing to bet that you are not supervised by your parents on here which makes this situation worse.
Then for the past few months you decided to bring all this drama on yourself and pretend to act like a victim about it. (Sorry, you aren't)
You think you understand rage, you don't. You're just some 11 year old kid who is acting like a two year old baby not getting his way all the time because you just won't let go of any wrong you think happened to you when you have been breaking the terms of service multiple times. And believe me, you don't want to know what rage truly is, you're just a coddled kid who will say the wrong thing to the wrong person in the real world and you would get physically punched hard in the face because you're the type of obnoxious brat who does not shut up.
Seriously. Legally, in the United States where Itch.io is located in, you have to be 13 years old. It doesn't matter where you're from you could be anywhere in the world and we'd still have to abide by the laws of the US because of where the site is hosted. You might not like that fact, but we all have to abide by it.
The moment you admitted that you are 11 you admitted that you lied about your age just to get on here, which you ultimately agreed to upon clicking on the button that says you accept the terms of conditions of being on this website.
This isn't a matter of "Oh, you made a mistake" this is literally a "Sorry, you're not old enough to be on here. You need to wait a few more years" matter.
I'm far older than you are. I don't care to explicitly state how older, but I am well above 18 and old enough to have spent most of my time working jobs and trying to maintain what I do financially to take on jobs, real, paying jobs after several years in college.
I don't want to be talking to a minor on the internet, especially not one who doesn't know his place in this community or online. But here we are because I called you out on breaking terms of service and you can't drop it and move on when the staff has been far more forgiving when they shouldn't be.
You don't know how serious online communication will get if you aren't careful, people who may genuinely mean you serious harm that you do not understand nor do you want to.
I've tried to hint at this rather subtly before, but it would appear that that hasn't worked.
And you might not realize this but here you are complaining about how itch.io is running things, whining about adult content when there are rules in place where you HAVE TO LABEL SOMETHING NSFW to post it and we are obligated to do so for those who do not want to look at it where you can simply ignore the content and move on, it can be posted whether you like it or not. That's considering some games on here actually are adult and also have given fair warning.
Yet, you who thinks that somehow you are above everyone else by disrespecting people who are generally older than you is a cool thing to do, you walk into adult spaces where you aren't even allowed to be on to begin with and you whine about it. That gets tiring to put up with for us.
You're the idiot in all this and you have been projecting that on everyone else.
You've brought all of this on yourself, every last bit of it. None of us, not the staff at itch, not myself or any people who are using this service at the legal required age did, this was all on you. Then you go around blaming everyone else for your fuck ups, admitting that you were going to harass people when you have no real reason to do so.
That is no understatement and there is nothing false about it. In our eyes, you have no real reason to be harassing or trolling people.
We at itch.io are not the ones who need help.io, you need help.io.
You don't know jack shit about determination either. So you played undertale, big deal, but you're going to tell me, you know what determination is when you haven't fucking shut up, put your money where your mouth is, and spending late nights to the point where you question your sanity and contemplate your life choices and whether or not this path is right for you. So don't give me none of that crap where you're all "Determination!" "Determination!" and making sentences where you barely make any coherent sentences the average user can understand. Now, maybe English isn't your first language but frankly, that doesn't take away from the point where you don't fully understand it.
You don't know a thing about online etiquette, you don't even have manners. You're just a rude kid acting like a baby.
Far as the dislikes go, that is entirely circumstantial. Unless you can provide some solid proof that you know that I am actively disliking your posts, I'm afraid that this is a situation where it's your word over my word. (In other words, Pics or it didn't happen).
I don't owe you explanations on why I don't like or care for you when you're not even taking a look at yourself in a mirror. But I'm doing it anyways knowing that you aren't going to read this post. (<- See that? if you want to prove me wrong, then look very hard at this sentence and read this whole post again WORD FOR WORD)
But you want to know what I predict? You're going to make a long winded post, trying to come at me with probably the most poorly worded reasons to what I'm doing wrong that you can't back. Because that's how easy it is to figure you out because you do the same damn shit over and over again.
I'm going to humor this.
What proof do you have of either myself or Chickma disliking your posts? Last time I checked I did no such thing.
More importantly, for all the complaining you've been doing saying that I've been "following you around" and "responding to all of your comments" you've been doing exactly those two things more often than I have after the fact that you got banned from the forums and that's the main reason why I've been banning you from my news posts and have have you banned on my website from making comments.
Grow up.
