So what if Russia is their neighbor? You obviously don't know what independence mean. Ukraine officially declared independence when the Soviet Union fell, the choice of whether to join NATO just be up to the Ukrainian people, not some politician from another country. Putin does not get to dictate what the Ukrainians do. Putin is doing this mainly to prevent Ukraine from joining NATO,but to also forcefully install a pro-Russian government whether or not its people like it. And let me remind you that the US,UK and Russia signed a denuclearization treaty with Ukraine, that Ukraine would dismantle its Soviet-era nuclear weapons on the condition that the US,UK and Russia would always respect Ukraine's territorial integrity and would never invade Ukraine. Look who's the first country to break it. You need to respect that the Ukrainian people decided to join the EU and the western alliance over Russia. They must have their reasons, and shouldn't succumb to any foreign pressure, even if it's from the biggest country. Don't think just because Putin have started a war we have to bow down to his every demand, especially if Putin isn't the president of Ukraine. Their ancestors fought hard for independence, their own freedom and choice, free from Soviet rule, and now Putin is trying to take that away because of his insecurity.
How would you like the country you're living in being handed back to it's European colonial rulers ,hmm?
