I made a little change so it might be harder to do this now, but then I found another exploit and tried to fix that too :]

Glad you enjoyed the flavours :) If you get stuck you may need to hit P/RETURN for the menu twice and choose to self destruct...

Well done, you've definitely found an exploit there :] . I'm not sure how exactly to stop it. I guess three and a half years without anyone finding the problem isn't too bad though. I'll have a think...

Aw - that's great. Glad you're still enjoying it :)

Sometimes they do get stuck. If you leave the asteroid and come back then they get put back in their prisons so you can try again. The prisoners will run towards the ship unless it's directly in line with them.

That hole so early on is a bit annoying though - I'll see if I can get rid of it in the editor.

** done in v1.0.1  now. Some of the work on the editor for release has made that  so much easier to fix than it was.

Just as a headsup: you never need to rescue the prisoners to get to further asteroids, but to 100% the game there are bits where guiding them the right way is crucial to saving them.

Thank you for such a lovely comment :)

Thanks for giving the game a shot! Press Down to enable the scoop to grab from the fuel dumps :)

The png in the raspy version doesn't seem to be the same as a PICO-8 "png cart". I think it might just be the title pic.

I've added the actual PICO-8 png output as a download so you can try that. I have no idea if it'll work - I'm afraid I've not tried running on that platform (I guess you're following steps like from here: https://amberelec.org/systems/lexaloffle-pico-8.html )

It's possible the emulation on the Amberelec is different enough to the official PICO-8 that it won't run, but I hope it works for you. Good luck, pilot!

Well done! Thanks for playing :)

Found a bug when fiddling with this and fixed it and removed some redundant code to keep it under the size limit.

My record is 18 so far. Given how much I played it in testing I am not impressed with myself. Anna managed 2.

In theory the game will end if all the enemies in the level are destroyed - I suspect I just wasted bytes putting that limit in.

Edit: I found a tiny bug and fixed it (bullets weren't going through explosion circles). Ran it through Shrinko-8 and it saved a byte. Weird. The unminified source code seems to be too large for a PICO-8 Edu URL so I linked to Lexaloffle instead.

Lots of WCs are important, I guessed and wisely it would seem at first. I quickly maxed out at $32000, suspiciously close to PICO-8's signed 16bit number maximum, but then the visitor numbers started falling. Next time more WCs... At least my park isn't as bad as my GF's.

This is fun :)

Thanks CO!

Great :) Have you achieved iron bun yet?

Glad you enjoyed it (and were able to hold on) :)

It is a bit more random than I'd like. The real version of Osmos had some very cleverly crafted levels that get round that problem.

On reflection I could have made the game wait for your first key press - maybe that would help? I did manage to make it regenerate at the start if you lost straight away by appearing inside a larger mote, but if one's heading for you, even a pixel away, it can't tell there's a problem, sadly.

Glad you liked it :)

I liked your game too :)

I really wanted to get that light touch requirement that was in the original Osmos. I only wish I could have managed some visual feedback for it, but I just couldn't squeeze it in the character limit.

Glad you liked it - thanks for playing :)

Thanks - glad you liked it.

Well spotted on the music - I have indeed murdered Mussorgsky. The other track is a bit more obscure though...

Thanks :)

1984: the year Elite was released :)

Thanks (I honestly tried to add a hedgehog, but couldn't get one to look right at 8x8 size)

Glad you like it :) I figured it was more fun to make the journey back different to the way down.

Seems fixed - I successfully crashed into docked at a couple of stations just now :)

This is an amazing achievement - I am in awe. I flew about a bit and shot at some stuff and it was great. I tried (unsuccessfully) to write this kind of thing on an Atari ST back in the early 90s so have some inkling of what's involved.
Couple of things I noticed with the stations:

- the one at Lave disappeared when I got close to it (then I hit it, of course) - perhaps the geometry is clipped/culled by design when it's too close, but thought I'd mention it.

- Also, I jumped to Diso and flew towards the station and it suddenly disappeared entirely and I couldn't find it again. The indicator at the top right of the scanner stopped updating at that point as well. I played elite 2 a lot more than the original previously and I'm a bit confused by what all the UI means so perhaps I'm just misinterpreting that. though

Anyway, looking forward to improving my rating in the future :)
