****YOU MUST HAVE REGISTERED ON ITCH.IO TO SUBMIT****

Please make sure you have done this

How to submit:

  1. You can either create a game through your account and jump to step 3. or go to http://itch.io/jam/tasjam4
  2. Click "Submit your game" > "Create Game"
  3. Fill out all fields on the form as best you can.
    • Your release status is most likely "Prototype". Please only select something else if you really believe your game is at that level. A good question to ask yourself is "Would I distribute this on my platforms distribution systems?" or "Would I purchase this game myself if I saw this?"
    • Please make sure you correctly assign what platform your game works on. If it is mobile tick mobile. If it only works on a certain operating system please make sure that is known.
    • Please select "disable all payments" on this form. We are happy for you to continue work on your game after the jam as long as if you re-upload it, not as part of the jam, and keep some copies of just the files of what you did at the jam.
    • The description is IMPORTANT!!! Please see below for guidelines
    • Make sure the game is set to PUBLIC under the "Published" option, as you won't be able to submit to the jam otherwise!
    • You cannot edit your jam submission after the deadline, however you can edit your uploaded game and resubmit to the jam as many times as you like, up to submission close.
  4. PROOF READ YOUR SUBMISSION. Edit as needed and proceed when you are satisfied (enough ;P)
  5. Click "Save & View Page"
  6. Go back to http://itch.io/jam/tasjam4
  7. Hit "Submit your game"
  8. Select the game you would like to submit and add a link to any supporting materials (blogs, videos etc) and submit!
  9. Congrats You have submitted!

(If you need to make changes to your submitted game before submissions close, upload the new version to your game page and then make sure you submit it to the jam again, using the steps above from step 6.)

What to include in your Submission!

Game files

Make sure you have all your files ready to be uploaded.There are many ways to do this, the simplest is if your files just need to be downloaded to run you can submit a zip file for players to download. Alternatively if you are able to upload the following options your game can play in browser;

  • flash game (.swf files)
  • javascript (.jar files)
  • unity 3D (.unity3d files)
  • html files

There are many different formats for uploading a game. If you are unsure, feel free to talk to organisers, volunteers and mentors.

Description Guidelines

The description box in the submission process is where EVERYTHING (other than your game) will go. We recommend drafting a document before submitting to avoid any data loss and to help you flesh out your ideas more fully and coherently. You are welcome to also submit this document (as it will probably be nicely formatted and you can include pretty pictures and graphics). However we would appreciate if you could at least copy & paste all relevant text content into this section too. This guarantees judges will be able to view it.

Below is a set of strongly recommended guidelines of content you should include in the description. Not including any of the below could interfere with fully evaluating your game for judging. Of course you are welcome to submit even more as well!

  • What is your game? If we couldn't play it what would you tell us about it? get us excited to play! Show us where you wanted this game to go even if it's only a prototype at the moment.
  • Where did the idea come from? Talks us through your brainstorming processes, what ideas did you come up with and build upon?
  • How did you address the themes and keyword of the jam? "Double Dissolution"
  • Gameplay Instructions! We understand you may not have got a chance to implement a tutorial for your game, so tell us how to play here! Outline all the important mechanics and controls for the player,
  • Download, install and run instructions. How best to download, install and run your game so people can play!
  • Feel free to upload any (and many!) pictures to help illustrate your description documentation.

IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE ASK THEM. You can post in this thread, or talk to organisers, mentors and volunteers. We will update this post over time to answer all questions as fully as we can, as well as reply individually.

Code of Conduct

While Tasjam aims to be a fun and creative event we are also community minded and want to make sure this event is safe and open to all. It is for this reason we have the following Code of Conduct that applies to all community interaction online and at all site locations. If you have further questions and comments regarding this, they can be sent through our Tasjam Feedback Form.

All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at our event are required to agree with the following code of conduct. Organisers and volunteers will enforce this code throughout the event. We are expecting cooperation from all participants to help ensuring a safe environment for everybody.

We honor all gender identities, races, sexualities, body types, economic backgrounds, abilities, religious beliefs and overall ways of human being, as we believe that diversity of experiences is key to successful collaborations.

Tasjam is committed to providing‭ ‬a‭ ‬friendly,‭ ‬safe,‭ ‬and‭ ‬welcoming‭ ‬environment‭ ‬for‭ ‬all,‭ ‬regardless‭ ‬of‭ ‬gender,‭ ‬sexual‭ ‬orientation,‭ age, ‬ability,‭ ‬appearance, ethnicity,‭ national origin, ‬citizenship, socioeconomic‭ ‬status,‭ ‬and‭ ‬religion‭ (‬or‭ ‬lack‭ ‬thereof‭), or technology choices‬. We do not tolerate harassment of or from participants, observers, sponsors or volunteers. the following are not only guidelines for all those who participate in this community, but also enforced consequences of unacceptable behaviour.

Harassment includes, but is not limited to:

  • Verbal comments that reinforce social structures of domination [related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, age, religion, technology choices.]
  • Gender assumptions and policing: Do not assume gender. If you are unsure of someones preferred gender pronoun, address them by their name. They might tell you and if they don't, that is ok, too!
  • Sexual images in public spaces
  • Deliberate intimidation, stalking, or following
  • Harassing photography or recording
  • Sustained disruption of others work and formalised parts of the event
  • Inappropriate physical contact
  • Unwelcome sexual attention
  • Advocating for, or encouraging, any of the above behaviour

If you are being harassed, notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact an event volunteer as soon as you can.

Enforcement

Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to comply immediately

Sponsors & Observers are also subject to the anti-harassment policy.

If a participant engages in harassing behaviour, event organisers retain the right to take any actions to keep the event a welcoming environment for all participants. This includes warning the offender or expulsion from the event.

Event organisers may take action to redress anything designed to, or with the clear impact of, disrupting the event or making the environment hostile for any participants.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all event venues and event-related social activities. We encourage and think participants should uphold this sort of respect for each other outside of event activities too.

Reporting

If someone makes you or anyone else feel unsafe or unwelcome, please report it as soon as possible. Harassment and other code of conduct violations reduce the value of our event for everyone. We want you to be happy at our event. People like you make our event a better place.

You can make a report either personally or anonymously.

Anonymous Report

You can make an anonymous report on our feedback or report forms.

We can't follow up an anonymous report with you directly, but we will fully investigate it and take whatever action is necessary to prevent a recurrence.

Personal Report

You can make a personal report by:

  • Calling or messaging this phone number: 0479016279. This phone number will be continuously monitored for the duration of the event.
  • Contacting an Organiser or volunteer, or even a mentor.

When taking a personal report, our volunteers will ensure you are safe and cannot be overheard. They may involve other event volunteers to ensure your report is managed properly. Once safe, we'll ask you to tell us about what happened. This can be upsetting, but we'll handle it as respectfully as possible, and you can bring someone to support you. You won't be asked to confront anyone and we won't tell anyone who you are.

Our team will be happy to help you contact site security, local law enforcement, local support services, provide escorts, or otherwise assist you to feel safe for the duration of the event. We value your attendance.

Reporting Grievances

If‭ ‬you‭ ‬feel‭ ‬you‭ ‬have‭ ‬been‭ ‬falsely‭ ‬or‭ ‬unfairly‭ ‬accused‭ ‬of‭ ‬violating‭ ‬this‭ ‬Code‭ ‬of‭ ‬Conduct,‭ ‬please notify a local organiser ‬with‭ ‬a‭‭ ‬description‭ ‬of‭ ‬this ‬grievance through the feedback form

Welcome to the inaugural TasJam!

We're very excited to have you join us for Tasmania's first statewide games jam and hope you're ready to get into it come Saturday morning! Before we get into it though, we thought you might like this chance to introduce yourselves; Who are you? What games do you like playing? What ideas and skills can you bring to a team? What are you most excited about for TasJam? If you had to fight a horse-sized duck or 100 duck-sized horses, which would you choose? Banana vs Pineapple? ... You get the gist.

To help you out I'll get the ball rolling:

Hello everyone! I'm mostly known as Ducky.

I'm a part-time web developer at a local web agency, as well as a university student. My majors are in Games Technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and on top of these I'm also very interested in Human Computer Interaction (HCI). I used to mainly play first person shooters (CS:S!), but have significantly broadened my tastes since I left college and now have a shamefully large backlog of games I'm working through (darn you steam sales!). I am also absolutely loving the board game renaissance happening at the moment!

Other than playing and making games in my spare time, sometimes I like to introduce coding to people by teaching them how to make simple games in python, and learning more myself! ... Oh and I have a very cute dog called Ada.

Anyway enough about me! How about you?

Hello everyone! I'm mostly known as Ducky.

I'm a part-time web developer at a local web agency, as well as a university student. My majors are in Games Technology and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and on top of these I'm also very interested in Human Computer Interaction (HCI). I used to mainly play first person shooters (CS:S!), but have significantly broadened my tastes since I left college and now have a shamefully large backlog of games I'm working through (darn you steam sales!). I am also absolutely loving the board game renaissance happening at the moment, and I'll probably have a few games on me if you ever need a break sometime this weekend ;)

Other than playing and making games in my spare time, sometimes I like to introduce coding to people by teaching them how to make simple games in python, and learning more myself! ... Oh and I have a very cute dog called Ada.

Anyway enough about me! How about you?
