Love the art style, love the comic book intro, love the vibes! If I were to be super critical, two things that could be improved slightly:

1. The design of the cursor and the UI (the characters in the bottom left and right corners) feel a little bit like they don't match the art style of the rest of the game.

2. I think the cats' pupils are darker than anything else in the environment and it sticks out a bit. I think it would look a bit more harmonious if you used the same dark brown you used for drawing the outlines of the environment for the cats' eyes.

These are minor nitpicks - overall really cute and impressive!

Very cute! Like a frantic tamagotchi.

I can't play this game unfortunately because I'm on a Mac but wow what a cool idea for a game!! Graphics looks great too!

I played it through to the end. Too scary for me but very impressive nonetheless! The 2D cartoon art and 3D graphics go together surprisingly well. Maybe lean into that more and add more 2D cartoon art in the 3D world.

I can't play the game because I'm on a Mac but the art style is really cool! It reminds me of like a 90s cartoon or something.

I wanted to rate and comment your back on your game but unfortunately all Godot games are just giving me a gray screen. Maybe my computer's too old. Anyways, just judging by the screenshots it looks very cute and silly and fun! Is there a reason why the snow is all orange in the screenshots?

Oh thank goodness!! I have no way of checking and it would've been embarrassing if the alternate upload didn't work either XD

Thank you! And yes, I'm gonna continue working on this game and have Gus Gus talk and add multiple Christmas activities!

I played your game to the end! I really enjoyed it! I think it would be good if I felt like I had more choice, like if I could choose any tree to chop down, or choose one patch of mushrooms among many, or if I could do the tasks in any order I want. Also, reading " 'E' to (action) " over and over again felt a little repetitive, maybe just an E button icon and the action word would work, like " [E] Chop Wood ". Anyways, very cozy! The text at the beginning really helped set the mood.

Nice pixel art on the monsters, really interesting designs!

If you're still interest in trying the game, this alternate version should work: https://dylanbb.itch.io/christmas-with-gus-gus-window-size-fix

If you're still interested in trying the game, here's an alternate version with the screen size problem fixed: https://dylanbb.itch.io/christmas-with-gus-gus-window-size-fix

Thanks!

Thank you so much! If you want to try it, here's a separate upload with the offending line of code removed so the game should display correctly: https://dylanbb.itch.io/christmas-with-gus-gus-window-size-fix

Thank you so much! I already have lots more content planned so you can spend more time with Gus Gus XD

Thank you!

Thank you so much! I'm gonna try troubleshooting it tonight with a friend who has a windows computer but this is a good workaround for now! Sorry for the trouble!

Thank you for your comment. See my reply above for the source of the problem. And thank you about the art style!

Thank you for your comment. I think I know the source of the problem... I added a line of code to make the game look sharp on Apple's 2x Retina Display devices, but it seems like it's not working on non-Apple devices and causing the entire game to be 2x in size. Unfortunately it's too late for this game jam but I'll fix it for a future release! If you want to try the game for now I think you have to use a Mac or iPad.
