Fun flying controls. Lovely background art, enemy design, and parallax scrolling. The game doesn't really require the player to move in the x direction and staying to the left of the screen makes the game much easier. Freezing the player's X position or creating different enemy patterns would have gone a long way in improving moment to moment gameplay. I have no idea what the message is and would have liked to have seen it be more visible in the final product. Good job overall, glad to see this finally completed.
Well animated. Great tower placement and upgrading mechanics. Certainly a difficult game if you don't roll a good first round with enemy placement. The sprite work is great and the upgraded animations and power ups work well and look fantastic. I can only guess the message is virus related because of the buttons. They are funny names for buttons, but I feel like these mechanics might have worked better for a different message or if the towers were doctors.
I think the game's consumerist message that just buying clothes and food will make the player happy is unhealthy and the multiple promotions in a few days is unrealistic. Replacing clothes with allowing the player to see their friends or go on dates might be a more realistic way of achieving happiness. Mechanically all of the systems worked together well. By paying attention and not buying food the player can make numbers go up, make numbers go down, and save their dog.
Well done. The ramp up of challenge with the cops, birds, and drones was smooth and engaging. The art was simple and clean while crating a good sense of place. The message was simple and well executed with gameplay and changing level art. The waiting of a full minute for the good ending could have been made more engaging if the player could throw trash into bins or garbage trucks, but that's all I could think to add to this. Gold star. More work like this please.
Very ambitious. I found the movement controls extremely disorientating, but I trust that you could improve them. I'm happy to see the advice you received helped with the design of the final product and certainly makes it a stronger piece thematically. I couldn't tell if the health or ammo was depleting since they weren't visible in the game window. High praise for trying to create a 3D game with little experience and little time.
I thought the dolphin was eating the garbage until reading the description. The title and end screens have fun and clean visuals. The boats dropping the garbage is a neat and realistic idea. The dolphin is a little slow to maneuver and the sprite feels a little big compared to the airplane and boat. Even without those few tweaks it's successful in its execution.
Good lofi music! I liked the animation of the player character and the design of the second level. The spinning platforms could be slower and there is a glitch where players can stick to the middle of spinning platforms if holding the right arrow key. I think the gameplay is good overall, but doesn’t communicate the message of the game to the player.
Beautiful work. The highlighted NPCs was a good visual indicator and the interesting story kept me playing. Backtracking to the mom and her telling me to see Yen again made me realize I had reached the end of the build, but I do look forward to see how it finishes. Your games always shine above us all in the best ways so don't give in to the guilt. No matter how scary the red text is!
