Press one on the numbers row to select the Crystal Tree, you can then plant trees on nearby cells (provided it is on a soil and have nothing on it). Note there is a long cool-down on it, about 20 seconds.
Press two on the numbers row to select the weapon, which you can use to fire and attack bugs.
