at this point it sounds like something is corrupted, i would recommend downloading a new 0.8 game folder and doing all previous fixes with that, if it still doesn't work then i literally have no idea what's wrong coz it should be really easy to fix, also what headset are you using, just in case 

have you tried any of the community bindings for ur headset? Are you launching it as a non-steam game instead of just running the exe?  As annoying as it is, to help i will need you to be even more specific... 😅

broken on both (sort of), most of the mechanics were broken due to the physics rewrite, the game is still playable there is just less to do, so if you want all the features that dont work anymore, just use 0.7 latest

As you can see all versions above 0.5 are in .rar files, this doesnt make any difference for downloading other than the decreased time required, if you want to open said .rar files, use BreeZip (thats what i use and it works fine) and just extract the files to wherever u want to put the game...

the itch.io app doesnt like it when you try to launch/install vr games (yes ik ur trying to do desktop mode), download from the itch.io website instead coz that has more versions and its easier to play...

bathing doesnt work in 0.8 at all because of the physics rewrite, sleeping does work but only if you physically pick her up and lie her on the bed yourself, chopsticks was taken out of the game in 0.7 for some reason but cards still works afaik...

summary: 0.8 broke most of the main mechanics so if you want the "full" experience then 0.7 is best, alternatively if you like yeeting people then 0.8 is what ur looking for xD

no, sideloading requires having an apk file of the game, which means the entire game would have to be rewritten to work without steamvr for anything to work, including the game itself

you can open .rar files with WinRar or any other program with similar abilities... I personally use BreeZip but this is not the only alternative... 

well tbh it does say alpha so like u bought it knowing that it was still alpha and now ur saying its broken and doesnt work properly? its a known fact to all people stupid and smart that alpha games dont represent the final game and are pretty much always buggy af
