I also bought this at the Shortbox Comics Fair. I didn't know what to expect, but I liked the art style and the diversity of body types depicted. Wow, man, I was blown away when it turned out that this comic was not only beautifully drawn but incredibly well-written, with deft, subtle worldbuilding and characterization. The tragic story resonates with some of humanity's most ancient myths and literary works, but also with dilemmas and crises ordinary people still face every day in the modern world.
Wise's visual composition is masterful and striking, moving the reader through the story almost as though they're watching an animated film. The more experimental photo-collage artwork in the book's climactic scenes works well, too.
My literal only complaint about the story is that when it was over I was left wanting to learn so much more about, and spend so much more time with, these characters and their world!
