Hey guys! I'm not one to care much about what year it is, but yesterday was the 1 Year Anniversary for Dango Thief going live! My goal last year was to make it go live before the new year and this year my goal was to post a big update before the new year. I mean, last years my goal was to post this before the new year. Man, this year stuff trips me up.

I have to say that I'm a little ashamed at how little I accomplished over the past year. However, in some ways I'm not and that's because those I love in my life come first. I have a small hobby farm that takes up a good portion of my day, had coccidiosis hit my flock, one of my sweet little noodle ferrets had a blockage (they all recovered!), had one of my cherished pets pass away, one of my tarantulas passed which was sad but definitely doesn't carry the same weight, have had a few health problems myself, and more.

On top of that, 2023 wanted to go out with a bang. In the last two weeks of December, my mother tripped and hurt her leg. She couldn't walk for a week so I tended to her (just the past couple days she's finally able to do things on her own) My one chicken got her leg hurt too. It was bruised green and she was limping. Another chicken of mine got an eye injury. And now, the past few days, I've had another chicken (Cleo) in a dog carrier in my room recovering from being ill with who knows what - but likely parasites. So the whole flock is being treated for that too, which means needing to individually providing dewormer to 20 chickens (not a lot in some ways, but it's very time consuming all the same). I could go on and on, but I won't.

As you can see, everyone keeps me busy!

Thankfully things seem to be on the up so I've got a little free time. So now, to honor my goal, I will be posting an update to Dango Thief sometime today! Yay! I didn't get as far as I wanted, but I've got a little to-do list and will be posting some smaller updates throughout the month as I complete them. I hope everyone who tries it enjoys it!

I've introduced some new features rather than fixing the glaring issues near the end of the demo 'cause I roll like that. No, really, I'll be fixing those as well and have already fixed a lot of broken stuff - and broken more things too. So once Kazuki goes to bed, do expect issues. That portion was already pretty buggy but I've completely upended the code since the prior way I did it was garbage. The entire demo should be playable when I post the update to the game later today but no promises. However, by the end of January the entire demo should be nearly bug-free and properly playable. Can't speak for the quality of cutscenes and art, but I will have all the bugs worked out. Speaking of art, I discovered a new program and I'm so excited to start making better art for DT! As much as I love GIMP, it just doesn't have the things I need for good face graphics and such. I'll still use it for my sprite work, however.

My main goal is to get the demo as clean and polished as I can. Unfortunately for myself, I love stupid unnecessary details, personalization, and making Wolf RPG Editor do things it's not exactly meant to be (but very capable of) doing.

Thank you for trying out my little mess of a game! Wishing you all a wonderful new year! ♥ And myself. Gosh, I hope this year isn't as rough as last.

Hey everyone! Thank you for stopping by. I wanted to discuss a few things about the current state of the demo and the future of the game as a whole.

The reason the demo is in such a bad state right now is because I rushed its release to meet a dream goal of mine. Ever since I started working on the game off and on since 2016, I've been eager for the day I get to share the game with others. However, I have a busy life and a lot of different projects (as well as a Youtube channel). I kind of jump between projects never really seeing any to completion.

Early in September (2022) I decided to focus solely on Dango Thief; at least enough to release a demo this year. I gave myself the deadline of December 31st. Even though the demo is incomplete and a mess, I still wanted to meet that goal!

So here we are! What next? Throughout January I plan on making quite a few patches to the game to fix and polish up the demo. However, I want to make an update to A Valentine Experience before Valentine's day so the demo likely won't be completed until March.

Starting March, I'll be putting work into the full game. I'm not sure what kind of release I want to do as of yet. As mentioned on the game page, I'm considering an episodic release (even though I'm not a big fan of that). But we'll see how things go. This will be the main game I put my time towards in 2023. I would love a full release by 2024 and no later. Oh, but I'll likely put patches towards A Valentine Experience periodically as I'd also like that game to be complete by Valentine's 2024.

Thank you for your interest! And Happy New Years!

Aww, thank you so much for the kind words! And for trying my little VN! I'm very glad it was enjoyed; I'm hoping later this month I can get back to adding more. :3

Just got a .zip uploaded. Sorry for the trouble!
