Good stuff, I could see this being a lot of fun with with some more fleshed out mechanics. More stuff you can cook, being paid money instead of bullets, and then being able to buy bullets or weapons or maybe even some kind of base-building? But yeah, good work! :)
Interesting concept, but I feel like there's not much of the retro shooter genre in it other than the visual style, it's basically just a typing game. Still, it's well-made, and I see what you meant by punishing button-mashing, I like that unlike some other games you need to retype the word if you make a mistake. And I really dig the launch code idea :)
Yeah, the sounds were basically a last-minute thing, so I didn't have much of a chance to fine-tune them. And I didn't really want to punish the player too much for guessing because you're going to end up guessing a lot, but there is a slight delay before you can type the next letter if you get it wrong. :)
