So I found this game a few days ago at around 2 AM at night. I was searching for a game to choke it to, as you do, and found Making movies. It was a good erotic game so I searched the dev and found this. Started playing at around 3 AM. The premise, a young man finding himself to have great magical abilities, goes to a magical school and there are different races, classes of magicians etc. A premise that's been done and you've seen before but the characters in this game really drew me in. I'm a character guy, you can have the most generic story but if you have great characters I'm all in. The story of this game does feel somewhat generic but the twists the developer put in makes it unique in its own right and the characters are among the best I've seen in a visual novel. The gameplay it features is also interesting enough and it kept me going. I found this game to choke it and even though this game has plenty of sexual encounters, I found myself not paying enough attention to the eroticism and more attention to the story and the characters. I played this game for 11 hours straight, not stopping because I just needed to find out what happened. When I got to the end of this build (which isn't the completed game as of this writing) I was distraught. I needed more, I didn't want to stop (And I had been playing it for 11 hours at that point from after midnight to midday). I have joined a few patreons of a few games after some deliberation but for this game, when it was over I just went to the patreon and joined because it is a real impactful game and I need more.
So this game while being a fantastic visual novel and adventure game still has a few issues, of course. No game is perfect. The battle mechanic on the medium difficulty (I didn't change it after starting) didn't allow a game over, which is a point against this game. When I first started I felt the rush of playing that but when I did go down to 0 health in one battle and nothing happened, that adrenaline feeling went away. I'm sure that it is possible to get a game over on the higher difficulty but I don't recall there being a choice about whether or not you can die from the combat (although since it was almost morning at the first combat scenario that may just be me being too tired to remember)
The second concern I have, which actually kinda drove me up the wall as a Swedish man who is interested in old norse mythology, is the portrayal of *SOMEWHAT SPOILER, TRYING TO USE NON SPOILER LANGUAGE GET YOUR EYES AWAY FROM THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT ANY INDICATION OF SPOILERS*
Thor. In the game, Thor is referred to as the God of war. Thor hasn't been identified as the God of war in any edda that I'm aware of. Neither Snorre or the Poetic Edda refers to him as the God of war, he is the God of thunder. He is a great warrior, but that doesn't mean he's the God of war. The God of war in Norse mythology isn't agreed upon, but Snorre wrote that Tyr was worshipped by Soldiers and that combined with the myth of Fenris, there has been the assumption that Tyr is the God of war. I understand that this detail would be incredibly difficult to change, and I don't expect it to be corrected, since the story is written with Thor as the God of war, but it's still a bit annoying lmao.
