The Oakwood Tapes

Old cryptic words lead you to the infamous apartment 66 to uncover the secrets of the previous generations. Upon exploring the Oakwood Residences, you soon realise that you are in way over your head.

This demo project is a fraction of the full game experience, released for free on itch to acquire feedback and community ideas.

ohhh right, thank you I think I have a solution anyway I'm using unity and I've realised I can fix it by having the sprite as a separate object as a child of the player object and moving it to be centred. Great pack btw I love it so far and I'll definitely be using more in the future

This pack is great and I'm using it in my game, but I don't have 4 directions, I have the up, down and right. I understand that the "right" facing assets can just be flipped to go to the left but the sprite isn't centred so I can't get it to work. Is there a solution to that?

Hey Matt! I'm glad to hear you're still playing games like these and I genuinely think that I've improved my game development skills over the years so I hope you enjoy it. At the minute I'm trying to put a game on steam but I've been waiting on the verification for wayyyy too long. Thanks for the comment! :)

Thanks:)

What size are the sprites? I need the pixel size so I can separate the sprite sheet

Thanks for playing :D. Also congrats on killing 267 zombies haha, I found the issue with the stairs in the cabin, I just had to jump to get over it, maybe there was an issue in the static mesh. Anyway, I'll do my best to fix it once the voting period is over. Again, thanks for playing :)

Thank you! :D I'll add those features when I have time after the voting period is over :)

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)

Pretty great interpretation of the theme, the graphics look great 5/5 and I like the gameplay :)

Thank you! :D Nice work on your game too :)

Thanks for the reply, now I know there's a flashlight I feel kinda dumb but yeah, maybe you could add like a notification in the top corner that says 'press F for flashlight' or something like that, and as for the animations, well I have no clue why its happening but when it gets fixed let me know and I'll give it another go :D

Thank you! I appreciate it :D

The systems in the game are pretty cool, the graphics are nice, but the animation is really buggy, my animations just stopped in the middle of the game for no reason at all, and I was in the default pose for the rest of the gameplay. Also it is waaaay too dark at night, I can't see a thing and it took me like a minute just to get out of that room because I couldn't see the doorway. Anyway overall it was pretty cool, good job :)

You think people won't notice you just got a free asset made by unity and put it up for an unreal engine game jam?

Yeah true, I guess I could add in checkpoints once the voting period is over, it was just a hassle to save all the locations, rotations, AI locations, health stuff, inventory, etc. Thanks for the feedback though!

Thanks :D

I agree

Thanks! Sorry for the late reply but I appreciate you playing the game :D

Thanks so much :D

Thank you so much :D

thank you for the kind words! I appreciate it :D

I know so sad

pretty cool way of using the theme :D

Everyone keeps asking me haha, basically the story is based around a company that is called "Celebration Services" and they are trying to brainwash you into working for them in a facility where they make things for celebrations. Sorry if it wasn't clear in the game.

absolutely amazing game. The graphics are 10/10, the story is so compelling it made me cry and I can't believe that it is possible to create something this incredible.

Thanks for playing! I appreciate the feedback and I worked on the game alone, I spent just over a month working on it overall. I think I could have fleshed out the idea a lot more which is what I am working on now. Again, thanks for playing :D

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it :)

Thank you!

Thanks for playing! I have taken your feedback into consideration. I just updated the files and the sounds are no longer broken (the background and some other sfx got corrupted when exported) and I fixed some repeating triggers. I am also working on PSYCHOSIS 2 with more story, gameplay, etc. I appreciate all the feedback :)

Fixed the repeating triggers and I found out that the SFX I originally had got corrupted so I added new ones. Thanks for the feedback.

finally updated. Just thought I should let you know :)

Hi, thanks for playing! Unfortunately, when I exported the project, the sounds got corrupted and it won't let me update it and I'm working to fix some of the other bugs. As for the suggestion of notes, there are already 5 around the map, it says in the tutorial. Again, thanks for playing and I appreciate the feedback!
