Very excited to finally press the shiny green release button this morning. Survive Into Night is now available on Steam!

I've worked hard on this game for a long time now hoping to create a survival horror game that feels a bit nostalgic and leaves you wanting to keep exploring.

The full game is out, but there will be a lot more updates coming in the future adding new content, features, play modes, and more.

I really hope that others will love playing this game as much as I have loved developing it and wanted to share here today! If you purchase the game on Itch let me know and I'll send a Steam key your way if you would like!

Frequently Asked Questions

I've been sharing the development of Survive Into Night across a number of platforms from YouTube, Reddit, Itchio, Twitter, FB, and others and have answered a number of questions about the game there. I wanted to bring some of the common questions together in one place here - as well as open up a place for you to ask any questions you have about the game!

Q: When is Survive Into Night releasing?

A: The full release of Survive Into Night will be in early August 2021, stay tuned for the official release date!

Q: How much will Survive Into Night cost?

A: At the moment the game costs $4.99 as it is still in development. Upon the games full release it will cost $9.99

Q: How long is the game?

A: The main storyline will take around 3-4 hours to complete, however those that enjoy exploring the open world, gathering loot, crafting, completing side quests, and finding easter eggs will get many more hours out of the game.

Q: Will there be DLC in the future?

A: The game will feature a lot of post release updates and new content, including the wave based Horde Mode which is coming Halloween 2021 - All future content & updates will be entirely FREE.

Q: What inputs does the game support?

A: Survive Into Night fully supports keyboard & mouse and also fully supports most all controller/gamepads.

Q: Does the game support multiplayer?

A: The main story mode is finely crafted as a single player experience. Horde Mode may have co-op enabled, and potentially online play, will update in the future on these plans.

There are 2 different cemeteries to explore in Survive Into Night, each with a number of graves the player can approach. Many of the graves have the names of famous horror characters & creators on them, some have the testers names. If you want your name engraved on the stone of one of these tombs for players to find let me know here before the full release and I'll add it to the game!

Going to check now, I don't use Facebook messenger enough (Get a lot of spam there) thanks for reaching out!

Going to watch now, if you ever get a chance to try Survive Into Night and make a video on it would love to see it also!

This looks great, good work!

Survive Into Night is a passion project of mine that I've been working on for awhile. I hope to capture some of what made the original Silent Hill, Parasite Eve, and Resident Evil games so great - all from a 2d Top down perspective.

Survive Into Night version 0.07 is now available - I've been working really hard to polish the small details and make the entire experience much smoother. This is a big update for the game and adds new areas, new weapons, new crafting, and much much more. Appreciate any feedback you have or ideas!

Development Log --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • New Weapon/Craft: Hand Grenades!
  • Fixed bug where dropped weapons would lose ammo
  • Fixed bug where weapons could accidentally be used while in menus/inventory
  • Improvements to early intro areas
  • More music & sound effects
  • Improved punching mechanic & balancing
  • Fixed minor bugs & map issues
  • Better support for switching control method (Gamepad/KeyboardMouse) in game
  • Improved Controllers/Diagonal movement using Keyboard now working

Wow, that is really great & detailed feedback! Thank you so much for taking time out of your day to write it out for me, this will definitely help make the game better!

I'm going to fix the movement keys for keyboard & mouse so diagonal movement works smoothly, and a few other tweaks as well. I should make it so you can still punch when other items are equipped in your active slot, that would feel more natural. The FPS drops are something I've been looking into - they are tied to the lighting system, and I think I have a good solution but have to test it out a bit, that's a big on my to do lost. I might need to change up the intro area so players can go back, right now if you could you'd be able to get endless weapons/ammo but I can change that up and should. The permanent stamina/health drops are actually a feature of the game - As you lose stamina/health you'll slowly lose MAX for each and have to eat food or use medicine to restore them back, I need to find a good way to explain that system to players though. The bumping issue that messes up the camera still needs work also, I think I can fix it easily enough - adding it to the bugs list

Thanks again for playing my game - I hope you like it!

Wanted to let you know that I've been working hard on implementing keyboard/mouse controls to Survive Into Night, and they will be ready in the next update (hoping to push out tomorrow!) - Thanks again for the feedback!

Really appreciate you making a video of the game! That gave me a lot of good ideas to improve upon - especially seeing you run out of ammo towards the end. Thanks much, and I hope you enjoyed it - still very early in development so have a lot of work left to do.

Appreciate you saying so - I'm going to make mouse/keyboard controls a high priority to be added - and hope to update very often. Thanks for checking the game out Grelko!

I've been working really hard the last few months on my upcoming 2d Top Down Zombie Shooter/looter game "Survive Into Night".  I am planning to eventually release on other platforms but decided to go ahead and release an early build of the game for free on itch.io in order to get some player feedback and maybe even build some hype there.

This is a survival horror game focused heavily on collecting loot and crafting items needed to stay alive.

Very exciting - if you want to give the game a shot you play here now:

I've been working on Survive Into Night for awhile now and am finally ready to let others play it! The game is still in Early Access form and will be updated very often! That being said certain features like saving aren't yet implemented (That is coming VERY soon, I promise!) and the story is not yet completed. There is a LOT of loot to collect, weapons to craft, and Zombies to splatter everywhere though. I'm hoping by releasing this early build on itch.io that you guys and girls will help me find bugs and come up with some great ideas to improve the game before it's full release.

I've poured my heart into this bloody & gory game and I truly hope that you love it!

It is built for Windows - are you running into any specific error messages when installing it? I'll take a look and push a new build if needed.

Ouch... best of luck in your life - I can't imagine how bad things must be to have hit the point of randomly slamming an indie developer on the internet.

Enjoy the game!
