Due to the short delay in announcing the theme, an extra day has been added to the game jam in order to give an appropriate amount of time so everyone can plan and create their games.

Hello all!

The creators of this game jam have made the decision to make a few changes to the game jam in hopes to make this a more enjoyable experience for everyone. Here are the relevant changes:

Change 1: The game jam is being changed from 2 weeks to 1 week.

For the sake of encouraging our jammers to create a fun, quick game, we have shortened the game jam from 2 weeks to 1 week. We decided this in hopes that it would prevent the dreaded scope creep. We hope that changing the length to 1 week will help teams figure out the most important aspects of the game they want to share. With that being said, we do not encourage crunch and we hope there is no pressure on anyone to churn out complicated games quickly. If a week is too short, we are open to extending the amount of time for next season upon hearing feedback. 

Change 2: This is now an unranked game jam.

We initially wanted this to be a 2-part ranked jam: the first part being ranked by all contributors, and the second part being ranked by streamers. While we still hope to implement this ranking into future jams, we recognized that this could potentially put too much pressure on creators, so we wanted to make the first ever 'Tis the Season Game Jam an unranked jam. We hope that making this an unranked jam will help creators feel more at ease and allow them to make games freely without worry of feedback. At the end of the day, we just want you to have fun!

Thanks to everyone who has joined so far. With the game jam less than a month away, I hope everyone has been forming teams already!

If not, I highly encourage you to join our Discord server  to try and find some teammates. If there are any questions or you need help finding a team, please do not hesitate to reach out!
