I liked the choice of region; it seems very uncovered, and to have a lot of cultural weight. The specificity when mentioning specific places and events was great.
Mechanically, the high-frequency of enemy encounters was a bit painful for me, as well as the limited strategies. That said, with the short time frame.

I like that you took the time to utilize the sequencer/matinee for some great camera animation. Also, I think the idea of a sort of maze of fire and puzzles to escape is a strong basis for a game.
As is, though, there's not much gameplay here. Also, the lighting could use a little work - was consistently difficult to make out the environment.
