Hello! We are DeaconT, an indie game development team currently working on Unrepentant Neophyte, a 2D pixel art survival game set on a mysterious multiversal island. Our project is in full swing and we already have 2 composers who have already made several soundtracks, 2 artists including myself and 1 programmer working on the characters and game mechanics. However, we are looking to expand our team with a pixel artist dedicated to creating stunning backgrounds and immersive environments.

About the Game:
Unrepentant Neophyte is a survival game with a weird narrative and a unique setting. The story revolves around an island floating in the void, connected to multiple realities. Players can choose from different entity types, each with unique abilities and survival mechanics. The island is full of ancient structures, mysterious creatures, and remnants of other worlds.

We’re aiming for a visually captivating world where each environment tells a part of the island's long and complex history. Your role would be crucial in bringing this world to life.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Pixel Art Expertise: Proficient in creating detailed, high-quality pixel art for backgrounds and environments.
  • Atmospheric Design: Ability to design environments that convey the mood and tone of different areas (forests, ancient ruins, floating islands, etc.).
  • Collaborative Spirit: Open to feedback and able to work closely with our team to ensure a cohesive visual style.
  • Experience in 2D Game Art: Previous experience in creating pixel art for games is a plus, especially in the survival or adventure genres.

Concept Models

Monkey, Ghost, Zombie, Human & Anomalous

hi, I’m working on an exciting 2D survival game set on a mysterious island floating in the void, disconnected from the multiverse. The game is in the concept and early development phase, with a strong focus on pixel art aesthetics and a dynamic survival experience. The player can choose from various beings like a Human, Zombie, Ghost, or Anomalous Entity, each with unique abilities, needs, and ways of survival.

The island is filled with remnants of previous inhabitants, with discoverable lore through notes and comic-style videos. These notes, often written in ancient glyphs, require special tools to decipher. The game will feature a day-night cycle, resource management, and exploration of structures ranging from medieval ruins to futuristic labs.

Current Team and Progress:

I’m the lead designer and writer, and I’ve already developed the core concept and some Test Animates. Right now, I’m looking to expand the team to bring this vision to life.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Pixel Artist: Someone who can help define the visual style of the game, create character sprites, environment tiles, and UI elements. Experience with 2D animation is a plus!
  • Programmer: Preferably someone with experience in Monogame. You'll help bring the gameplay mechanics to life, including the survival systems, AI behavior, environment interactions, and if possible, Shading system or procedural programming.

Compensation:

This is currently a passion project. However, the goal is to launch the game on platforms like Itch.io, with revenue-sharing as an option once the game is completed. If the project is successful, we might release it on Steam.
