Ough I was so excited to see a ttrpg, especially a singleplayer one! I love this concept and its just very touching and special. I really appreciate stories about grief and this is such a cool way of inviting the player into it. And just the themes of tarot really support the subjective takeaways, that different players will get different things out of the experience.

Great job, I cant wait to see what you do next!

Really intriguing mystery! I love the idea of different items to affect the dialog you got. Solid execution, and I liked the light mechanic as well! Great setup for a story like this, you did a great job and I cant wait to see how you keep growing as a game dev.

Loved this, and super cool to see you add a working leaderboard! Really liked how you included the leaderboard. Can't wait to see what you do next!

So excited to see another bitsy game!! Great sprite work and color choices really made the characters and levels pop. Great job using so many of the bitsy features like keys, doors, and tons of dialog! Can't wait to see what you do next :)

Loved the song!! Very funny and perfect for the sort of vibe it seems like you guys want to go for. It was a delight having you both as part of the jam and contributing models and assets and advice!! Seriously can't wait to see where ya'll take this and what you make next!

This is such a cool proof of concept!! Seriously the technical challenge of doing your own engine for a game jam is insane, and you did it!! Physics functionality is no laughing matter and you got something that feels pretty close to what you were going for!!

Took a peek under the hood and was very impressed by your setup. Going so far as to account for performance changes across devices and everything, holy cow Aoylnn! Thanks for joining the jam, I am legitimately so excited to see what you create next :D

I loved this so much!!! You managed to capture the narrative heart of bitsy games in a way I was really impressed by. Cant wait to see what you make next, and best of luck on your career journey. Also holy shit great work with the artwork, Combining sprites like that in Bitsy is no easy task and you did a great job.

PS: Thank you for the cameo, that was adorable

Husky!! Im so glad you got the chance to join the jam. This was adorable, the music was really nice and you chose some cute sound effects. Im so proud of you for trying something brand new to you! Genuinely can't wait to see what you do next!

This was cool to explore!! Im so glad you got the chance to participate in the jam and flex your writing skills. Bit dark but I loved that you had several endings and made use of the looping feature. Can't wait to see what you do next!!

Wow this knocked my socks off! Fantastic work ya'll this was genuinely a very fun experiece. Great work integrating the upgrade theme, the puzzle piece mechanic is really clever and adds a fun strategy element that contrasts from the rest of the combat. Combat feels punchy, satisfying, and the art is just very cool! Love the sketchy style.

Genuinely excited to see what ya'll do next!

Cannot describe how fucking it cool it was to have someone submit an actual Gameboy game!! Freaking great job with this, very fun and I am still flabbergasted by how cool it is. Can't wait to see what you do next!! :)

So glad you got to make something for the jam happy!! Its a really solid implementation of the mechanics, I could totally see you expanding this into a really neat experience. Great job!!

Can't wait to see what you do next!! :)

It was so fun having you part of the jam!! Seriously good job picking up something entirely new and having so much fun with it! You conquered code problems like a boss and just jumped all 8 legs first into this project.

Can't wait to see what you do next!! :)

Jester I am so stoked that you got to do this!!! I've been dying to see a game from you forever, and im so stoked for whatever you do next.

Great job including accessibility with your game in a clever way, I think that was a really smart addition. And as to be expected, fucking funny writing :D

I was so excited to see a fantasy console submission! Great job using the theme, its such a cute and tidy experience! Cant wait to see what you do next ;)

(1 edit)

Awww I love this!! Its so cute, and Arcane you NAILED the art style for a VN! This whole team kicked ass, ya'll did a great job. Cant wait to see what you do next ;)

Pogi I am so proud of you for doing this! You stepped outta your comfort zone and made a whole ding dang platformer! With multiple endings and difficulties!! Great job mate, cant wait to see what you do next ;)

AHHHH!!! This was so stinkin cute! Star you killed it with the VO, and Ender you killed it with making the feel of the game so good!! It feels just like the sorta games ya'll are inspired by and I love that. Cant wait to see what you do next ;)

What a great way of using the medium, and the SOUND DESIGN!!! You designed the fuck outta this game if I'm honest, thats the ludonarrative synchronicity you're looking for. Cant wait to see what you do next ;)

Survivors games are so peak and you guys nailed it!! Loved playing this, and I know comet got addicted lmao. Great job of successfully getting the game loop feeling so good! Cant wait to see what you do next ;)

Wow!!! This is such a well put together platformer, and I absolutely love the idea of vtuber lore games. Ya'll absolutely nailed it, and added a ton of charm and character in the process. Can't wait to see more of this :D

Very very well written! Really proud of you for trying something new and kicking so much ass!

Creepy atmosphere, great use of the text adventure medium! Cant wait to see what you do next ;)

Holy moly!! You guys pulled off such a charming and polished experience, and not only that, did it with such a big team! Congrats to all ya'll, fantastic job putting together something with so much thought behind it.

Seriously cant wait to see where this goes!

This is seriously SO GOOD!!! This is a great example of a polished, well-scoped experience. Its like the perfectly constructed bite of a visual novel.

Love the character design, great expressions, and the music of course is killer. Great job!!

Ay thank you! And yeah a boss health bar was pretty high on our priority list but we ended up churning a lot on other features. Planning on adding if we keep updating it!

bitsy community » bitsy » tips & help · Created a new topic Game data wiped?

Howdy! Hosting a game jam right now and was pushing people to use bitsy. Had a community member try to download the html of their file and it seemingly erased all of their game_data and only downloaded a blank file? Is there any hope of recovery?

They are on OperaGX with the Amazon Assistant, Paypal Honey, and (my guess for the issue) uBlock Origin as extensions

We tried getting the local game storage but apparently it just had the same, empty/blank bitsy html they had gotten when they first tried to download.

Here's a bunch of WIPs from other folks, feel free to post yours in this thread too!

Glad to hear you got the problem solved! Looking forward to seeing your project!

Welcome Syd! Love your stuff, I'll make sure to let people know!

Wow! This is an awesome example of really stretching Pico8 to try new cool and unusual things! Good job matching with the theme, and keep up the good work.

Ya'll did awesome! Great job on the models and making such a fleshed out game! It seems like the button capture mechanic can be pretty easily bypassed if every player just mashes the buttons, maybe a penalty for that could be good?

Cool project and top-notch itch page! Congrats on completing this, it is an awesome accomplishment especially with using an entirely bespoke software library like Beholder.

Also difficulty settings could play a role in this? Or just having an endless mode where the difficulty stays wherever you set it. Would be great for neuro-divergent accessibility

You made a game in just a few hours, thats an accomplishment! You learned a ton, I hope you keep on making games!

Retro graphics and retro sound effects, I love it! Having a tutorial/intro is something that a lot of games in jams don't get the time to do, but it adds a lot of story, and context to your game that I appreciated.

I might make the circle of light around the character a little more pixelated to match the rest of the retro aesthetic. Otherwise, its a really cool game! It feels cohesive and the visuals are creative and interesting. My favorite part is definitely the text and UIs!

I love the pixel art! It's expressive and creative, and there's obviously a lot of love put into the assets. The core gameplay mechanics of top-down shooting appear to be solid and fun. I think the lack of player animation is a little disconcerting, but it sounds like you guys learned a TON from this project.

That's the whole point of game jam's imo, is learning new things, failing gracefully, and for those that want to, building with a whole new team! Congrats on learning so much and creating a fun game!

Congratulations on your first game jam! The assets look cool, and the gameplay was easy to understand. I think I would love to see some user-interface in the future to know how much health my character has, and what the controls are.

This is a fantastic example of a project without any tutorial! Good job, and I hope you keep making games!
