For full commercial VNs:
The Fate S/N and Tsukihime VNs have fan browser based versions which are good (and are legally in a grey zone) + while they have H-scenes they can be turned off (for the fate one at least)

Ever17 and Remember11 could be considered abandonware and can be found on abandonware archives. Haven't got round to them properly but they are really good.

Last one I'll recommend is FNIA: Golden Time. Once you look at it you'll realise why I put it last. For a harem VN it's not half bad but it is more of a 'f it why not?'.

I see. It felt like something wasn't loading rather than an endless hallway.

 It just felt underwhelming.

Is it meant to be just a black screen once you enter through the doors?

Not the best way to represent endless, especially since you can't really interact with anything i.e. no indication you are moving forward. Just seems like you are in a dark room.
