Cool, small game Felipe!
It reminds me a bit other Felipe's game with a different theme: Tall-boi.
This one is quick to play and finish.
Keep up the good work Felipe!
Nice to see the game from the Twitch stream ;-)
Oh man, it is hard an all progress can be wiped out quickly ;-). Fun and definitely worth to check out. You put a lot of effort in making it.
I had a problem with a web version. I got a pretty much a freeze, although I was able to kill the tab. Checked on: MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2018). Maybe would need to check with all stuff closed another time.
Then I downloaded a Windows version on some older laptop and it worked fine.
Really cool game CoboltGames, FelipeRattu and Krikit!
I played a bit more the browser version. Worked ok, but it was tiny. Toggle Fullscreen or bigger window would be cool. There were also small sound glitches on occasion. The music itself is nice and adds to the vibe of the game.
Downloaded on Mac and it worked ok. No music glitches as in web version. One thing is that I use Itch app and the game is bundled within a DMG file, so a player need to open the DMG and then run APP file after clicking the "Launch" button in Itch app. DMG is good for standalone packaging. For Itch app maybe using ZIP would be more suitable.
I haven't finished the game yet. It takes some time, especially when you make a mistake in a more advance level. Need to go back to it. Cool concept and it was nice to see parts of it development on Twitch.
The controls are rather friendly to make a mobile version if you consider it in future. With lots of levels it would be a nice small game to play for more casual players.
Cool and fun idea Felipe!
The only problem I got is I played alone controlling both cowboys and the right one always was winning when I pressed at the same time.
I think you could expand this a bit with. Maybe who will press first a sequence of a few letters. Any mistake will need a fix by pressing yet another key and repeating the whole sequence.
That would not make a game such "binary" as it is now, but maybe you want to keep it like this, it is just a quick idea. Maybe some targeting by pressing keys to direct the gun lower or higher too, things like that.
Keep up the good work!
Cool game, idea and execution! Your style is clearly visible here.
Regarding issues some people have: It worked for me well on web version, Chrome on MacBook Pro 2018. I also downloaded it on my secondary Windows laptop and it also working, but with a slight lag - expected as it is neither new nor a powerful computer (still was able to play).
Fun game to play! Nice mood and graphics.
Things to have in mind:
- clicking a bit above the planet when spawning things
- collected people are displayed in the top right corner
- avoiding putting to many things near housing area for easier people collection
- it is easier to click people with full screen when playing the web version at least
- right click to leave the planet focus mode and e.g. pick another one
Thanks for checking it out and leaving the comment!
As you may have already seen in description, on youtube or discord there are already many things on my TODO, making a better onboarding / tutorial included. Unfortunately it will need to wait a bit, even though I already have a few things in progress.
Nice and fun game I have tried some time ago via Itch app on Mac. Definitely worth to try.
Due to limited time I have only played it for a short 30 minutes or something, so I just seen a small fraction of game and need to explore it more some day.
Jakefriend also shares his knowledge and insights in various places for anyone interested in gamedev.
I am looking forward how the game will be progressing in development. Definitely I suggest to try it, even for a few minutes.
Web version worked fine for me. The quality of the game is great. Nice graphics, animations and music. Controls are fine too. I was stuck a few times between the rocks, but I guess you just need to be careful, and even if so you can still blast the rocks a bit to get out.
I did not have time for a longer gameplay, so I am not sure what is inside after a longer play time. Some NPCs and / or enemies would be nice to see.
Keep up the good work!
I just quickly checked it out Dash. Great you have released it after making a video. Congrats for making a 2nd game and 3rd one being on its way as shown in a video - nice!
I played only for a short amount of time so I don't have a lot of feedback now. I played on Mac via Itch app. No problems with installation and running.
The default aspect ratio was mobile like (vertical). I played like that for a moment and then changed for landscape aspect ratio and size to also fit my screen.
The jump to the sides worked rather too strong for me. I also had some moments when I had sticked by side of the bean to the box instead of sliding on the edge up or bounce back as I would expect it to work.
I will try to play it a bit more someday, maybe after you will release (if you plan to do so) an update with some polishing improvements.
Hi Dash,
So as promised I have played the game more, both on a MacBook Pro 15'' 2018 and on a stationary Windows based PC.
There are definitely a lots of improvements here in overall feeling of the gameplay mechanics polishing, bigger bug fixes etc. on Mac (I haven't played v1 on Windows).
I was able to almost finish Level 10 boss escape, but it was taking me lots of retries. And those vertical platforms where I stuck... #$@! lol ;-). I will try again in future.
Game in general is fun to play. The music fits very well. The same with story / narration and mood. I think it has potential for a larger audience adoption, maybe with introducing some graphics etc.
Issues / improvements proposal:
I still have some problems here and there with jump not reacting on time or easily sliding from the tip of those thin vertical platforms. And it would be nice to have a little bit more control in air. I think it may be a slightly bit worse when playing on Retina display or maybe in general depending on resolution some accuracy may suffer a bit.
Maybe I am just too old ;-), but the game is rather hard, which can be a good thing and I guess it is rather by design here. However, you could consider some difficulty levels or optional adjustment options like more save checkpoints, so less hardcore platformer players could enjoy it too.
It would also be nice if the progress was saved on a checkpoint, not at the beginning of the level. And those vertical platforms mentioned before can be really annoying especially combined with a slight lack of control precision at times.
[Shift] is for dashing and [E] for platform switching. Combined with [Space] for jump it was rather not the best keys layout for me. But maybe it was just me and it depends on the keyboard so probably asking others would be helpful or just to consider making keys mapping feature in future.
A button / option for skipping death & respawn animations or a longer introduction at the beginning of Level 10 could be a great thing too. Combined with many retries it is time consuming and not for gameplay, but for waiting.
I know you are busy with the new game, youtube etc. but maybe you can go back to Cube Run sometime in the future for making some adjustments / improvements.
Keep up the good work!

Nice small and fun game with a catchy music, Dash!
I have a few issues with controls / resolution on a Mac Book Pro 2018 (reported via game, so will not repeat myself here).
Give it a try people, you on Macs too, so it may be easier for Dash to diagnose repeating issues.
I am looking for a possible update and new games in future of course!
No, I just tried again right after crash. The reason I have written a comment first and sent crash report via app was I had some issues with other games in the past, so I just though it will not run. I am glad I checked again.
I cannot help too much with Mac / Big Sur specific issues now except just checking a new build if you make one and ask me.
I am planning to resume my gamedev efforts soon, so maybe then I will have to dig more with my own projects.
I cannot find now the link to the report and I guess there is no UI for viewing them on Itch. There was some "stack trace" referring to a bunch of files, not sure if they were related to some parts of Itch's app or the game though. Do not have any response from Itch team yet.
EDITED: Right after writing this comment and sending the report via app I have tried second time and it runs ;-). I closed and tried again to double check and I was able to play 3 levels of something. No crash, just didn't have more time currently.
I am leaving the original comment to encourage others to try again once or twice as it may work like in my case. There may be still some issue, not sure whether with game's build or Itch app. It is not that heavy nor I have any resource heavy app running at the time except the browser. So it shouldn't crash at all ideally.
Nice game btw. Definitely needs some polishing & fixes like flickering foreground elements having z-index fight.

I had a problem trying to run the game on Mac via Itch app, just after installation. I am also preparing feedback via after crash form in Itch's app.
MacOS version: Big Sur v11.2.3
I haven't seen any specific reason in the crash report screen, but I might be missing something. Or maybe just the build is not compatible with this OS version. I see lots of complains in various places regarding recent development experience in macOS ecosystem.
Feel free to reach me to check a new build or discuss it further.
