This demo is honestly very disorientating. The animations are used heavily, I would say overused, zooming on almost every detail and taking too many seconds to transition. It isn't made obvious but it feels very likely this was originally written in a different language and translated into English which feels like some false advertising. Some people mentioned Chinese QT could be the culprit.
The language is incredibly redundant and sounds like listening to toddlers who know big words reiterating the same jokes and being overly obsessed with murder. It has good bones, but the writing of the characters isn't personal enough and they don't react like people would. It could work if it were more subtle but it's painfully obvious in every sentence of dialogue.
If it's meant to be disorientating I could understand but it needs to be dialled down a good bit and the writing reworked. Especially since they are expecting to kickstart this, I would find an entire visual novel with this kind of script hard to read and it makes it not possible for me to like these characters or be invested on the level I want to. It doesn't make me fearful for the villainess' plight, I want to be in more suspense and drawn into the drama.
I like a lot of the ideas I'm seeing here, more use of the background and space but the tone and writing leave a lot to be desired. I think people want this game to take itself a bit more seriously, to find an anti-heroine worth rooting for instead of what we currently seem to have, a way too meta unreliable narrator that's grating and not at all personable or even seemingly invested in her own struggle other than making sure people don't murder her.
