First of all, thank you so very much for answering!
I see...yeah, that makes sense. I didn't think about the reflecting floor though! But if she's leaning with the ellbows on a table, won't the table obstruct the light...?
And don't worry, the Terminator eye was for sure a stylised choice! I wanted her to look intimidating.
Time to get fixin'! Thank you so very much!
I tried to be experimental with the light and shadows, but it still looks kinda off. Maybe it's not even the lighting and its the anatomy? I really don't have a good eye for analyzing details...Any veteran artist out there, that can help me with this specific picture? I tried to make it look like the camera is paning up from the desk, but...yeah.
Welcome! Since I can't sleep, I thought might as well let others know about my project.
This is, as the title says, a Visual Novel I am working on, titled Royal Garden Army.
How many people are working on it?
Currently two, me and a proof- and beta reader.
What's it about?
A human-like race called Flowers are fighting in a post-apocalyptic world against machines that look like bugs. The game can be divided into two sections- the slice of life section, in which the Flowers relax together, and the battle section, in which I will try to implement a very simple RPG battle mechanic into Renpy.
How much did you work on it?
I barely even scratched the surface, i've got like, 1% of the sprites done (it's gonna be a huge cast of characters) and, as you can see, one or two CGs. I also just started writing, and got the first chapter all planned out.
What is there yet to do for Chapter 1?
It will be a mixture of writing and slowly working my way up with the talking sprites, specially since some characters are very expressive (I'm looking at you, Mary). Maybe there will be a few choices to make, but I'm not entirely sure if I want this to be a kinetic novel or not.
The first chapter focuses on a Slice of Life section, so you have the chance to get to know the cast.
Possible ideas for the far future:
a) I'd love for this game to be fully voice acted. But first I have to finish it.
b) I want to celebrate when the first chapter releases with a giveaway of an acrylic keychain of a flower soldier of your choice. But that is also still very far away.
Can't wait to keep working on it!
I want to create a .hack// - pokemon crossover in Pokemon Essentials. The game features characters and landscapes from the original .hack//IMOQ trilogy, with a reimagined story- what if The World was a Pokemon Game? I will be handling the writing and programming, while helping out with the sprites. I am looking for:
- Pixelartists, for: Overworld sprites, trainersprites and maptiles. Pokemon would be nice, but isn't absolutly necessary.
Ideally: Can pixel in the pokemon Gold and Silver sprite style
Pokemon Essentials knowledge not necessary, I can teach you how it works with the tilesets, for example.
- Composer, for: The BGM for the game.
Ideally: Can remix the .hack// IMOQ OST into an 8-bit sound.
We are looking also for other people, just not as urgently, such as Fakemon designer, to redesign the 8 Phases as legendarys or a fluent english speaker, to look over my writing, since english isn't my native tongue.
Knowledge about .hack// would be preferable, to encapsule the feel of the game better.
I am also accepting single entries (one pixel sheet, or one song for example) if you can't manage such a big project time-wise.

This is my first time joining in a mini game jam, so please be patient with me!
I can do pixel art with basic animations, and am not that bad in making rpg maker sprites. I also do 2D art. Most stuff I pixel/draw is more on the cutesy side with vibrant colors, but I can adapt to a certain extent. If anyone needs help with that, just hit me up!
here a few examples of my work:
