I finally did it. Made my first public thing on itch. My dumb idea for a bronze age visit from Santa that I had as soon as I heard of this jam. Here's a description of the titular "Grandfather Frost" that I hope will work for your encyclopedia.

The so-called, Grandfather Frost arrives only on the coldest night of the dark season. A towering figure, robed in furs and hidden behind a wooden mask of a bearded face. They ride an elk-drawn sleigh, laden with gifts.

Are they a spirit, a god, or simply the bearer of the mask? Witnesses disagree but I know! I have seen those eyes before, heard that voice. I can’t remember who they were before of course but that must be part of the magic of the mask… Regardless, heed my warnings! Accept their generosity and do not let your own generosity be lacking or a curse shall be upon you and yours.

Who knows, perhaps you too will wear the mask one dark season and be forgotten like, like old what’s their name… no no, wait , it’ll come to me…

Day 23 and Day 24. not much time with family arriving for Xmas, so there are smaller sections on traveling speed and finally, resting and leveling up! Hard to believe I did something for every day. I should participate in more jams for motivation for sure =)

Thanks!

Day 21 and Day 22. getting difficult as we close in on the end. Here's just the modified list of conditions to match all my previous edits, and a stat block for the first monster in the book =)

Day 20: the end of combat. Next, I'll have to figure out how to change the monster stat blocks.

Love that "pass you by" is alternately a blessing or a curse depending on the aspect =

DAY 19: Turns out I was only 1 third of the way through combat, not half. So many words but luckily I didn't have to change most of them =)

Day 18: halfway through restructuring combat to fit all the stuff I made up in features =)

Day 17: a relaxing breakdown of equipment. So much simpler than magic =)

Day 16 and I've got a pretty good handle on how to categorize all the spells into the 3 groups and what I want to do to consolidate things (like all the many spells that are just damage) But it's time to stop reading spells for a while and get to some other rule systems that need smashing.

And here's a shorter list of nature spells to catch up to day 15. Going through this list it really feels like the high level spells are things that should be boss monster powers, or even entire adventures on their own. Letting characters do lower level magic constantly feels like the right choice though.

Broke my streak, there's just too damn many spells to read. Here's a late day 14 with a selection of arcane spells

Day 13: Magic... almost. Not quite there but Warlock has shown me the path

Day 12 maybe I have figured out what I want to do about the unruly spell list? is it a good solution? will I spend the next 12 days wrestling with it? Stay tuned to find out =)

DAy 11 and there's not much left of the rogue once I got through with it. Most of the other capstone abilities (level 20 features you'll never see in play) have been usable I think. but the extra turn a rogue gets at the beginning of every fight might be a little OP.

The idea of languages having special effects that aren’t just "do you understand this guy" is fantastic. I imagine  players writing draconic on wooden doors to burn them down :)

this skill resolution  is kinda like an inverted version of Ironsworn. I love that something extra always happens.

Day 10: half-casters with no magic in which I cut a lot of junk out of ranger and paladin. Tearing through all the classes is giving me a lot of inspiration for things I could improve in the future but I gotta keep barreling forward. no editing till I smash through the whole SRD!

It's Day 9 and I'm deleting action economy shenanigans from monks. I know starting characters are gonna be pretty crazy in this game but I don't want them to be broken entirely =)

Day 8: cracking through 2 classes at once, still putting off magic.

Woo! Day 7! Still kicking the "how does spellcasting work" can down the road. That's a problem for future Jason.

Day 6, taking apart the bard features and realizing how much work simplifying spells is gonna be =/

Day 5 and I'm staring to carve up the class features in the SRD. I'm rather surprized that I'm able to keep this up.

Today I rewrote to ability descriptions. looks like I'm taking out skills and attack rolls. Hoping I can keep up the pace.
Day 4

Guess I forgot to hit post on day 2 so here it is. And here's a short one for Day 3 =)

Time to finally put something on my Patreon (it's free) patreon.com/JasonStrong

I'm putting everything for this jam as patreon blog posts (for free, no need to join) just because I want to do something with it. so here goes nothing
