After selecting Move Player in the roster screen, you can click the X to close out of the roster screen. The next time you go to the roster screen, the team select window will still be open, but the game doesn't remember which player you had selected to move previously.
The only way to close the team select window is to actually select a team, at which point the first player on the roster of the team highlighted will be moved to whichever team you select.
