After releasing the game jam version previously, I'm excited to release the expanded, final release of Crater Song.
Crater Song is a single-player co-op puzzle-adventure game with an authentic 8-bit aesthetic that takes place on the alien world of Orebody. Two twins, born of song, must embark on a mythic journey to lift a curse that makes them the target of eldritch horrors from beyond the stars.
Built for the 8-bit NES, this game is ideal for retrogamers, but can be equally enjoyed by anybody -- just be sure to use an emulator if you don't have original hardware and an Everdrive.
Thanks for playing and for the video review.
But just to be clear, the game is designed as a single-player game where one person controls both characters. It's best experienced with two NES controllers held sideways, like Wii-motes. For emulation, it plays well, too, with one character assigned to WASD on the keyboard for moving and the other character assigned to the Arrow Keys, with the Select button mapped for each wherever makes sense to the player. ;)
Crater Song is a short, single-player co-op adventure puzzle game for the 8-bit NES based within the sci-fi fantasy world of Orebody. And it's FREE!
It's a brand new NES game (yep, 8-bit ROM for the NES) that's inspired by Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.
That means it challenges players to control two characters simultaneously. On actual NES hardware, this means holding two NES controllers sideways, like Wii-motes, and using the d-pads and Select buttons to play the game. If you have an Everdrive or similar cart, you can toss the ROM on there and play on actual NES or NES-clone hardware. The control scheme, like in Brothers, is actually quite intuitive.
Crater Song can also be played via emulation. So, unless you have two USB NES controllers around, I might recommend using WASD and the Arrow Keys to control each character. You can map Select and Start to whatever buttons are within easy reach.

Thanks for your interest. Unfortunately, the Steam version is a standalone product and does not contain the NES ROM as a separate file. There are benefits to buying that version (rumble support, multiple palettes, achievements, etc.), but there is also a benefit to buying the game on Itch (you get the raw ROM to use however you see fit in terms of playing). We recommend choosing the option that best fits what you want out of the game.
Premium Edition Games is the publisher of the NES physical edition. While preorders have finished, they will have additional copies after those shipments have been fulfilled. We recommend following them on social media and reaching out. You can also grab the full game digitally on Steam or here on Itch when it launches. Thanks!

Oratorio is a rhythm action rail-shooter for the NES.
It's primarily inspired by games like Rez, Child of Eden, and Thumper.
We just published the proof-of-concept demo for the minimalist 2D atmospheric puzzle platformer Sporebody: An Orebody Story.
The Fungred, a race of mushroom beings, live on the periphery of what is known as the Waste Divide, hundreds of miles of desecrated, polluted earth that surround the the industrial heart of ore refining on Orebody.
In Sporebody, players guide Palo, a young Fungred, on a pilgrimage from his home cluster at the polluted edges of the Waste Divide to the Universal Veil, the core of the underground mycelium network and spiritual mecca to Palo and his people.
We hope you enjoy this first taste of what's to come.
