Weird. I do not have Windows 11 so I don't know how that's different, but do you have your view settings to show file extensions? IIRC, Windows by default turns that off, meaning that if you rename the file and ad ".gbc" it'll instead technically be "[name of game].gbc.gb," which may cause whatever emulator to still read it as a .gb file instead.

As for myself, I tested both the demo and the rev A rom by swapping the extension to .gbc on Windows 10, and it works perfectly with color on my EZ-Flash Jr. flash cart, played on my GBA SP.

From my experience with Pocket and emulation in general, you can also fix this by changing the ROM's file extension from .gb to .gbc

Oh my god, F in the chat, m8. I tried three different subweapons and the holy cross is the only thing that even remotely worked, and it still took me a couple hours. First I tried stopwatch and that had no effect, and then I tried knife and that was entirely useless, lol.

Loving this game so far, but does anyone have a strategy for Death? I'm hard-stuck on him, and it's impossible to find tips online... and I'm not really getting anything out of the videos besides "just be luckier," lol. Feels like an RNG fest without any actual strategy to it, either you get lucky to win the war of attrition or you don't. :\ Anything I'm missing would be appreciated, because after hours of trying, I can't find a single way to actually avoid any of the attacks beyond "strafe everywhere and just hope you don't get hit too much."

EDIT: Lmao MFW I beat it 10 minutes after posting this. Would still appreciate any tips though so next time I can beat him with something besides luck.

Double Edit: Beat the game just now and had a fantastic time, Death aside. Would gladly play it again, keeping my eye on this developer for future projects. Thank you for making it!

Sorry late reply I know, but this happened to me when I first updated to 1.05: I was at the Sewer lantern, and the moment I hit a load zone, I fell into an abyss. It lasted a bit, but I did eventually die and then respawn back to the lantern. No issues after that.
