Hi! Please disregard my comment before, I think it's way better if you download the itch.io launcher.  I downloaded it directly on the launcher then installed it (I picked the first option - "That's not my neighbor.exe").  After installing, I simply launched the game. Hoping this also works for you! 

Go to your profile (top right) > click "my library" > click "download" under the game name > you will see "download" buttons, just pick which one corresponds with your device (in my case, I'm using windows)
