Hi, thanks for playing! I don't have a publicly accessible copy of the source unfortunately and I don't really have plans to do so. The game does support custom modules to add new cards etc though if that's of interest. I need to write up some documentation on how people can create those.

Great news: this option already exists :) If you check out the v1.4 release post here it says how to do that. Thanks for the reminder that the information should be more obvious and not buried in a post though!
Edit: It may be worth checking out v2.3, for the bug fixes if nothing else. Most are mainly relevant to the expansions, but there's a few for the core game iirc.
I've uploaded an update (v2.3) that should solve the crash you reported, along with fixing the missing spaces in the character descriptions and making sure that equipment picked up while playing can be used. The non-bug suggestions are on my list still :)
In terms of the configuration file, it definitely works for me so I'm not sure what to suggest as to why it didn't for you.
Thanks for the feedback! I'll take a look at the error and the typo. In terms of loading specific expansions it's briefly explained in this post: https://kemp.itch.io/desolate-text/devlog/276955/desolate-v20-released-with-dark...
I'm intending to write a more detailed post about the options available in the config file in the not-too-distant future.
I've noticed people are submitting videogames to the jam. Some seem genuinely proud of their work and possibly misunderstood the jam. Others didn't even answer the submission question. I know some people just submit their game to every jam they can as a bad form of marketing (I've seen games with literally hundreds of jams in their submission lists).
The rules don't explicitly say tabletop games only, but I assume that was intended to be implied by the name of the jam?
A quick glance found these, just checking the ones that had a videogame-y thumbnail or no summary text: OOO, Lone Army, snake, Move with Moons, Blorb enters the eye of the universe, Inday, Finding Silly, Ari, CreepyBoratory, Croft Freezer, Space Battle, Box-ing
