As someone who has read a LOT of interactive fiction stories, none have truly captivated me like this one! The twist was marvelous, especially with all the set up!!! I can tell how passionate you are about this story in the way you write it! Can't wait for more!!!

AHH!!!! Thank you so much for playing my silly little game (and thank you so much for finding typos!!!!! I swear I check for them all the time and they always sneak by me...) and you did find all of the documents!!! I'm super bad at debugging hence why it didn't work.
(Writing this comment and debugging as we speak, turns out I misspelled "laura" as "Lauren" in some code that checks if you've found everything.... I swear I can code)
And yes, Iris was a very last minute addition. Actually, the publisher part was supposed to be edited out in the final version (which I just did, thank you for the warning!!!) because it makes no sense, haha.
I'm glad you liked it! This is the longest game I've made to date (with the most intense story aspects) so I'm glad it worked!
THANK YOU AGAIN FOR PLAYING!!! YOU'RE AWESOME!
What's in a Name? is my third ever (released) game!
In it, you play as a detective who must solve the mysterious disappearance of your estranged cousin, Laura. However, your only tool is a database that only accepts names. You must sort through documents to uncover more and more of the story and figure out what happened to Laura!

Love it! You write phenomenally and so far I love it!
Here's my feedback:
-The distinction between Mermaids and Sirens is particularly interesting to me and I love the uniqueness within the world you are building.
-I think you did a lovely job with the GUI, it's not too crowded but it works well with the story and theme.
-You integrated the implementation of pronouns and appearance spectacularly and in a way that did not take away from the story at all.
-The codex entries are particularly amazing. They are short but very interesting reads and make perfect sense.
-I think you also strike a good balance of cost vs. benefit of certain choices. For example, when you can choose to help a person who has fallen into the water, if you do help them, your relationship with Marina goes down because she disagrees with you. However, if you kill them, you become ruthless. I had to genuinely weigh my options! It was brilliant.
Sorry for the word vomit, but I really think you have something special here! As someone who has tried (emphasis on tried) to write an interactive fiction novel like this, I know how hard and time consuming it is. I can't wait to see what else you have in store!
