Apologies for the late reply, if you broke all the lockpicks you press F on the box again to retrieve more

Got your link just in time before you deleted the Reddit post, I'm assuming you're reposting at a later time for the sake of visibility. If so, I'll copy-paste my first impressions as a comment. But here goes:

The visuals and aesthetics are pretty nice and fun, the cartoony vibe definitely fits the concept of a shooting game where your weapon is a stapler. But the feel of the game is a little off because of a few factors:

1. The time limit is very short and no pick-ups seem to add more to the timer. I don't think it's possible to see the entirety of the level even when constantly sprinting and using caffeine boosts, so getting every target seems flat out impossible, and that's a shame

2. There's very little feedback and a short delay before the targets are deleted. It'd probably feel better if the target had a small swaying animation before disappearing and if the stapler had some little decal to indicate the impact. You could even briefly show the points earned for landing the shots for a more arcadey feel

3. Speaking of points, my high scores varied wildly and hitting more targets with more precision didn't seem to affect it positively, so I'm assuming headshots count for more? It'd be nice if there was some indication that you landed a shot worth more points

4. The openness of the level design makes it hard to figure out where to go to look for targets. Any hint at all as to how many targets are left per room would help greatly

5. The dual staplers seemed to reduce my accuracy by shooting on the sides rather than dead center of the screen, so I tried to avoid them after my first run

And there are some bugs I want to point out:

1. Doors seem to open on the wrong side when you kick them open (maybe a collision problem when going too fast)

2. The stairs leading up (second set) had collision issues making them hard to traverse, both of this and the above problems are not great in a game that's all about speed

3. My 45 points highscore somehow was replaced with my 28 points one, which hurts my bragging rights

4. The replay button doesn't seem to do anything, it would have been really convenient to try again quickly and improve my score

Some closing thoughts about the overall game:

1. More pick-up items would be nice to keep things fresh and interesting, especially "weapons" (I kinda want a shotgun stapler)

2. An excuse plot, explaining in one line who you are or why you're shooting cardboard targets with a stapler in an office would be great. It might seem obvious what the story is, but telling it still would give the game more personality and make the player more invested

3. Mouse sensitivity might be a tad bit too high, which makes aiming a little challenging for the wrong reasons

Hope this helps!

(1 edit)

Thank you! I've been trying to figure out where the freezing when pressing E or Q comes from but so far nothing has worked, I hope trial and error can eventually get me there

Pressing A or Q defines whether you're using an AZERTY or QWERTY keyboard, but it might be more trouble than it's worth, I might remove that in version 1.03.

Under a minute, not bad!

EDIT: As of version 1.04, both the freezing issue and the QWERTY/AZERTY controls issues have been fixed!
