When Jill gets out of bed, after saying "Merde...", an error message pops up, reading 'File Audio/SE/Jill Esses pesadelos nao me deixam em paz. was not found."

The game then closes.

I'm using English version on a Windows 10 system with Windows display language set to English (United States) and Preferred languages set to English (Australia) and Japanese.
Region - Administrative - Language for non-Unicode programs is set to Japanese (Japan).

I play JP content sometimes, and without that last setting, filenames in kana are printed as unreadable characters, and JP region games won't be able to read the files and run.

I tried running the game in Windows XP under Oracle VM VirtualBox, but it doesn't work at all, just crashes on start.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank You!

Why not just use a person's name?
It's right there in the upper right corner.

Use initials for brevity. Ex.: "Aw cool, AGW has released a new mod. IKARI is eager to test it!"

This is a puzzler that is very good for beginners.

I was playing it to relax, I put some easy listening* on in the background and had a pleasant experience. It finishes at Level 6/13, I hope one day You will make the remaining 7 screens. If You gave the source code to the Mojon Twins, they could port it to C64, CPC and Spectrum haha. Source could also be licensed to educational institutions for students to practice their coding skills and port it to different languages.

The New Contra Fusion projects sounds very ambitious indeed...

I would like to take this opportunity ask about Your other game, Contra : Legacy Of Red Falcon.

LORF is somewhat similar to Legacy of War -- it has Life Meter (has to be picked up) and selectable Smart Bomb, Passcodes, switchable weapons, overhead stages etc. It has completely different stage layouts and bosses, different weapons and so on, and is by no means redundant. It is not as polished as Fusion or LOWR, but still very playable and fun.

LORF is not listed on Your itch.io page, have You disowned the project?

Thank You so much!

RE: 1.5.1 update

Reported bug (immortal final boss) was fixed in two days.

Thank You so much!

I think this is now the best Contra fan game in existence.

I have not yet unlocked the fifth character, I think I must beat on Hard difficulty.

-= SPOILERS =-

I found a hidden weapon in STAGE 12, shoot the ceiling after picking up 'U', and 'A' drops. It is a homing weapon. ("=A=ttractor"? "=A=lien Shot"?)
Not sure if it was in 1.5.0.

This 8-bit style Contra tribute is a lot of fun!
I just have one problem, the final boss ("Doppelherz") is invincible:
One or both hearts stop registering hits. i can destroy all the eggs, but i cannot defeat the boss and complete the game.
I'm using a Lenovo ThinkPad with Windows 10 64-bit.

Requires certain libraries:
libmpg123
love
lua51
lua5.1
OpenAL32
SDL2

Presumably, it needs the 32-bit version .DLLs of those libraries. I tried a few different versions, but I always get Application Error : "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."

This indicates that I am either mixing 64-bit/32-bit DLLs, the ScrambleSlugLD31a.EXE is using the wrong version of those libraries inside C:\Windows\System, C:\Windows\System32 or C:\Windows\SysWOW, ignoring those I placed in its directory, or just using the wrong version of any of the libraries.

Shame, I like mashup games like this, the idea of having teensy-weensy versions of Scramble, Silkworm and Contra/MetalSlug on the same static screen sounds kinda cute.

In future, You might consider using .OGG instead of .MP3 for your audio, since libmpg123.dll is the only library in the list that is not open source. The other libraries can be freely distributed with your game. Also You might want to figure out a way to bind all game data, program and support libraries inside the executable, giving the player a simple way to run your program.

Have a nice day, and I wish You much success in Your programming classes!

Regards,

Marco

But he is not shouting in CAPS, he is shouting in bold.

Is still rude though! >:^/

Does anyone have a WinUAE Configuration file (.UAE) for these games? I can't get Black Dawn 1.adf to start. Are these games for Amiga 500, 600 or 1200, OCS or AGA?

Thank You for those quickstart instructions. I will now buy your game.

I don't have a physical C64 anymore and play all my games through emulation. I was able to get Metal Dust working in VICE so I think I'm reasonably competent. Comments below seem to be mostly about FlashCarts on OG C64 or reproductions like the Maxi -- what about VICE running on a Windows PC? Would it run Soul Force?

Very good Run & Gun. I love the Contra games except the PS1 ones by Apaloosa. Yes, even Contra Force is OK if you overclock the emulated CPU. Played through Blazing Chrome and Super Cyborg.

What price point are you considering? I would instabuy for $10.

You could make more tricky situations if you added lock and strafe buttons like Hard Corps Uprising or Contra 3 Alien Wars EX.

I don't think it needs more playable characters.

Does the 2 MB download version include the map and instruction manual?
