short queston; got any ideas on how to do the AI for this game?

ssooooooooo, I am making a tower defense combat game, it's pretty straightforward. the problem is, I'm not sure how to do the AI. at first, I wanted every opponent to just be a wave based system where you just need to survive a certain amount of time while they spawn their own towers in pre determined locations, which I will also do, but I also kind of wanted an actual 1v1 in my game with at least a little bit of algorithm. I could just have it spawn the towers randomly on the board, but I was hoping for a little more than that. what do you guys think?

thanks for reading this! if you could leave any feedback that would be helpful. I'm probably not going to finish in time, but I feel like after I figure out the AI, I can just keep adding more content. thank you (:

had to start late because I got sick and had some confusion on my objective.

my game will be a one-bit retro TD deckbuilder. you can test my progress here;

11/7/2021; I have done a lot of stuff not devlogged on individual days, so I am going to dump it all here. programmed basic towers, made some of the art for them,  have 3 so far.

plz let me know what u think (: constructive critisism needed!

do you mean for your devlog, or your final project?

so, I got sick for a week so I lost a lot of time working on this, but I finally got a break, and I don't know if I want to do what I originally was planning. my original idea was a platformer game where ever single day, each room would have a different kind of trap, and in order to disarm/avoid the trap, you need to know a code, as in it is a puzzle platformer. here is a screenshot; (I don't know why it was so big) anyways, I now have some other ideas, so if you could leave a comment telling me which you think is the best, that would be great.

* a rpg game where battle is a tower defense game. would probably be 1-bit, and I already have a lot of ideas. would probably be like Undertale. how it would work is you have a set of cards you cycle through, and each one is a different tower. different towers fire in different directions, and you can take advantage of this to block enemy attacks or do damage.

* part of me wants to keep working on the polypire, which is a really old game I have, you can find it in my profile. the new game I am working on is like the spiritual successor, but IDK if it's a good idea anymore. https://mcnatty.itch.io/the-polypire-version-1

*at one point I had ideas for a boss rush game, where you and possible one other player played a local beat em up like cuphead. this is a project I always wanted to do, but never found the motivation for.

*lastly, I have a prototype for a idle game where you can place workspaces to gather resources, however when you do, it increases the sound and can attract enemy teams. the engine is kind of bad and I might need to remake it.

if you read this to the end thank you. honestly I just need to vent about all my ideas and stuff. honestly, I joined this jam because I was hoping I would be able to  get myself to get a game done, but I can't seem to do anything than make a bunch of prototypes. please check out polypire and if you like the pixel art I would be happy to make pixel art for another game, even if it is a little late. I also have a youtube channel where I do pixel art basics; https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7fJ9yas_S1PN71T_Hs1aMg so if you don't think you can do pixel art meet me there and I can make a video to help you if there isn't one there that helps. sorry about the rant I just don't know what to do in life ):

thank you for the feedback and the encouragement! you really are doing a lot of work to not only make new devs feel welcome, but everyone in your jam. keep up the good work!

long story short, never done a jam before, always wanted to, picked this one because ScHoOl. question 1; for selling, do we have to actually sell the game on steam or something, or can we upload it to some flash sites to get ad revenue? question 2; can you redirect me to the part that tells you how to market your game and stuff? thank you in advance, and if you have any tips for this jam, let me know lowkey I'm scared ):

what is a derptin?

yes, I published it like a day ago

All right, there are some aspects of this that are really cool, and then there are some that are garbage.

good: character looks nice, sounds are great, music is great, very good performance

bad: ugly, art style does not match

have you ever heard of stencyl? that is what I used to make the polypire. it is basically the same thing as scratch, except it's an actual engine. it is no longer being updated, and the community is dead, but it is still a pretty good transition from scratch to actual engines. talk to me more if you want to know more but i would recommend it for someone like you

can I have feedback on stuff?

how was the pixel art? some of the sprites were placeholders (spirits and some enemys) but how was the player pixel art?

how was the music?

what did you think of the game overall?

if you are thinking about leaving a commet, just do it becase I NEED USER FEEDBACK PLEASE
