Hey there, a few of us devs are concerned if the theme will be a mechanics-related theme, such as “attack to move”.

This is one of the big reasons we’re hesitant to join at the moment, as a poor theme (especially mechanics related) will force specific subgenres and gameplay- especially if we’re not personally interested in that sort of direction.

Can we get confirmation regarding the theme’s scope?

Thanks!

Hey there, a few of us have been wondering on the rules surrounding "prior" work.

The rules currently state the following:

Games must be created within the one-month timeframe of the jam.

However, it doesn't clarify the following situations:

     1. Can open source work be used? Eg, any open source engine like Castagne OR an existing base game that's available to anyone on Github
     2. Can paid engines be used? Eg, UFE (Universal Fighting Engine Unity asset which many use)

Personally, I've seen all of the above be approved for prior jams and agree with them (albeit the publicly-available-existing-game-on-Github can get a bit scummy). Would recommend allowing the above, but also recommend stating engines and otherwise any source work be disclosed at time of submission.

Thanks!
