I think you just need to add the Director's cut.  I did a compare of the two files, and the unpackaged plain 'endings.rpy' has grammer errors, which are fixed in the director's cut.

You seem to have to buy the canoe, immediately.  Do not wait.  I ran through twice and first time I waited.  I have to load a save point, prior to Maria's shop first being available.

I have the same issue.  I got all the girls to level 8 (except Sunny).  But Maria does not have a canoe in the shop.
