Ian ran a playtest version of this oneshot for me a while ago for my birthday and we had a ton of fun messing up the skeleton crew's plans by introducing them and their zombie apocalypse army to the pineapple on pizza debate.
The mystery is full of puns and silly characters. I love all the treasure items Ian came up with for it, and I'm obsessed with all the combination locations in Shadybrooke. The graveyard/pizza hut is my favourite.
I'm working on a MotW mystery set in a village that has a contract with a forest spirit they worship as their god. In exchange for either 5% of the town's harvest or a human sacrifice (the villagers choose each year), the spirit keeps the village safe from dangerous monsters that roam the woods and ensures the success of the village's crops and livestock. Most of the village is happy with the arrangement. There are a few who are against it as they've seen no evidence of dangerous monsters in the woods in their lifetimes and caring for the soil keeps crops and livestock healthy.
When a late season blight begins spreading through the fields, livestock is brutally slaughtered by unnatural beasts, and villagers begin disappearing from nighttime walks, the voices of those opposed to the arrangement get louder and it's up to the hunters to figure out what exactly is going on and put a stop to it before the village has no food to survive the winter.
I'm glad you're enjoying it! I think it could easily expand to three or more players. Character creation would go the same and then after Player 1 resolves a prompt, the other players can both have a turn having their characters respond or react to what the first player wrote before Player 2 plays their own card. Then Players 1 and 3+ can have their characters react/respond to Player 2's answer to their prompt before handing it over to the third player.
If at any point in the scene it makes sense that only two of the characters are involved in a prompt or series of prompts, you can have those two players pass the document between themselves until it makes sense for the third player to jump in as well. You can easily add or remove players as necessary. But for the most part, because it's a game about reacting to what the previous player did, I think you could easily play with as many people as you want. Just make sure everyone is on the same page wrt safety and consent.
