"Black Ice, Cliff Face" is a short narrative game about endings and beginnings. Set over the course of ten seconds as a serious car accident unfolds, the game slows this time down to ten minutes, giving you a chance to reflect on the situation and talk to your partner as the scene develops.

Thanks for your feedback on the slow-motion effect, and I'm glad the main themes came through clearly for you!

C'est très cool! I find literature-to-videogame adaptations to be an interesting approach to game design, and this game is a good example of why. The unnerving and ambiguous pixel art brings out an element of horror that remains largely implicit in the original story, and at the same time this re-interpretation of the original still absolutely works as a stand-alone videogame narrative. Also, that transition between the red eye and the red house was fantastic!

This game does a great job of evoking the particular uncanniness of AI creations--in the graphics, gameplay, music and writing, everything is almost familiar, it almost acts the way you expect it to, but it's all a bit off. Far from being a flaw, I think the result is an enjoyably disorienting experience.

Content warning: This game does not contain any blood or gore, but does prominently feature a serious car accident. At one point there's also some mild cursing.
