Thanks!

The PDF is part of the Magenta Pages of Cy, so the image is indeed the only available standalone version.

Will do, thanks!

1. ‘Loot’ abilities are resolved by the player who killed the monster.

2. ‘One Use’ abilities can be used any time during your turn.

Glad I can help!

Locations:
- When a card says 'Heal 1 HP', it heals that damage from Scum. You are correct that you do not have HP, just Miseries.
- If Shrine of Greed is destroyed, place it in the crypt.
- If there are no Monsters in play, you *must* Explore. That can be Location that is already in play, or a Location played from your hand. If there are any Monsters in play, you can only Explore by playing a new Location from your hand; you cannot Explore a Location that is already in play.

Scum
- Scum abilities can be used whenever you like pretty much.
- You do need to make an Attack roll (D20) for Trage's Surprise Attack.
- (power) abilities do not replace your Attack. A (power) can be used once per turn at the start of any Phase.

Loot
- If the Monster ability were, for example "Loot: Draw a card", that would be an ability you carry out (i.e. draw the card).
- If the Monster ability were, for example "Loot: A Weapon", you could play a Weapon from your hand for free.
- If you have no Weapon, you can still fight (and must sometimes!), but you only deal D2 damage. Like a Scum, you only Attack once per turn.

Hope this helps!

Howdy! I hope my answers can help you out.

First off, I'd recommend having a look at the demo video for Plunderlust, our spin-off game for Vast Grimm. It's the second video on the kickstarter page here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/creaturecuration/plunderlust-trading-card-g...

On to the specific questions:

What happens if I haven't drawn a location card, or if I haven't drawn an enemy, or if I don’t have enough silver for an enemy (lurk phase)?
-- When playing solo, if you haven't drawn any Monsters, then you are safe from Monsters until you draw some! No worries there.
-- If you haven't drawn a Location, then you can't play a Location. If for whatever reason this means that you have no Locations in play, then you will have to play the highest cost Monster in your hand to fight. If there are Monsters in play and you cannot play a Location from your hand, you will have to keep fighting those Monsters. If there are no Monsters in play and you cannot play a Location from your hand, you can still choose to Explore a Location that is already in play.
-- Keep in mind that you aren't actually spending your accumulated Silver to play Monsters on yourself during the Lurk Phase. You are simply playing Monsters that cost less than or equal to the amount of Silver you rolled during Exploration.

Can I simply choose a card from the deck during the buy phase?
-- During the Buy Phase you can purchase Scum and Equipment from your hand, not from your deck.

In the explore phase, if I play a location card, do all the monsters in my hand attack me?
-- After the Explore Phase, during the Lurk Phase, you will play Monsters that cost less than or equal to the amount of Silver you rolled during Exploration. Then, during the Fight Phase you just fight the Monsters that are in play.

How much equipment can I carry with me? Do I keep my equipment from round to round? How many sums can i have?
-- You can carry as much Equipment as you like, no encumbrance, and it sticks around from round to round. Only "one use" Equipment gets discarded. Likewise, you can accumulate as much Silver as you can loot.

Happy Gaming!

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying the game!

Thank you! Thanks for organizing the jam :)

Thank you so much for the kind words! I'm glad you're enjoying the game. I know you're into print & play games, but if you're interested I've got a sci-fi (Vast Grimm setting) set of 7:7 decks on Kickstarter right now. I'll likely be doing more print & play decks in the future as well though. Happy gaming!
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/creaturecuration/plunderlust-trading-card-g...

Absolutely! You can play the decks against each-other and/or swap cards around in them for new solo dungeon crawls.

Awesome stuff! I'm very excited to see your 7:7 cards!

Glad you got a chance to play the new deck! I appreciate the questions as they help me see what I've left insufficiently clear.

...

- Rules says when you explore you get +10 silver for each location card you control, but the reference card says when you roll Explore die add +1 for each previous location. What applies?

- - > They're just different ways of phrasing the same effect. Sorry for the inconsistency. I'll make sure that's cleaned up next time I'm updating the rules.

...

- If you not play a Location card you MUST explore another location you control, but, if you dont explore, you must play the most expensive monster or a Boss. So, if you can choose not to explore, you must not explore.

- - > The 'if you didn't explore, play the most expensive Monster' rule applies on the off chance that you don't have a Location in your opening hand, or your only Location is somehow destroyed (like Temple of Greed). If you have any Locations in play, you MUST explore one of them, and if you have any in your hand, I would recommend playing one to explore.

...

- D8 random encounters in a reference card, when applies in the game?

- - > I can see how that's unclear. That card is for using the deck as a Mork Borg adventure.

...

- It would be great a little gameplay with pictures or a video.

- - > There's a diagram in the new updated rules doc (Dying Alone), but the upcoming Plunderlust kickstarter should include a how-to-play video, so stay posted!

...

Enjoy!

Oh, I know exactly how that goes :) Well if you do, I'd love to hear how it goes!

Thank you!

Thanks! Yours were much better organized than my original design. I really like having all of the 'vital stats' in a line vertically, it makes it really easy to see things in your hand. Have you and your friends played much more of the game?

Great concept, awesome art, and really fun story hooks. The dungeons are especially inspiring and evocative!

Thanks! I'm very excited about making more 7:7 happen :) Let me know how it goes!

Good catch! it's a D6 :)

Thank you!

If you make any custom cards, post links here so others can find them! You're also welcome to post card images right in this thread. If you have any card ideas you'd like to see realized, I'd be happy to put together a card to go with your idea (time permitting) so you can print it out and add it to your game.

For card design guidelines, check out my update here.

Creature Curation

Played last night for the first time. My wife and son both really enjoyed it. A couple of questions came up.

When exploring a previously played Dungeon, do you gain silver? (we played that you did)

Selling equipment. Does this have to be from cards played, or can it be from your hand?

Thanks for making it!

nacnudllah

I'm glad you all enjoyed it! To answer your questions:

1 - When exploring a previously played Dungeon, do you gain silver? Yes, that is the intent.

2 - Selling equipment. Does this have to be from cards played, or can it be from your hand? You can only sell equipment that is in play.

Bruno Prosaiko

Question: Can Equipment Cards be used by Scum or only by the player himself?

If Scums can use Equipment cards, are these destroyed if the equipped Scum dies?

Logically, I suppose Scums can use equipment, but since it doesn't say anything about it in the rules, I thought I'd ask.

Bruno Prosaiko

Another question: Is there any difference between discarding cards from the hand and discarding from the table regarding the activation of effects with the keyword "Flee"? In other words, if I discard a card with this keyword from my hand, does the effect activate?

nacnudllah

(+1)

FLEE should only trigger when the monster is discarded from play.

nacnudllah

(+1)

Equipment is just for the player. It alters your own attack damage and armor.

Bruno Prosaiko

Thanks for the answers, Duncan.

In fact, I'm working on a template for editing cards. I took the liberty of doing a redesign to make life easier for distracted players like me. ^^

Here's a preview of the redesign. The illustrations are by Simon Bisley who I used for composition purposes only. What do you think?

nacnudllah

(+1)

Wow! Those look fantastic! I love what you've done with them.

Bruno Prosaiko

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. ^^

I thought about using this layout when translating the game into Portuguese. What do you think? Could you send me the illustrations separate from the original card design?

nacnudllah

(+1)

I love the idea of using your layout for translating into Portuguese. I'm sure I can get you some of it, though parts of it will be difficult because they were hacked together in Google Slides. I see that you found me on Instagram. If you want to continue this conversation in chat there, I'm sure we can figure something out!

Bruno Prosaiko

Nice. I sent you a message on Instagram. :)

I never got your Instagram message, but I messaged you on Discord just now.

Hi. Can I translate the rules and cards into Brazilian Portuguese?

RPGsimples

It would be awesome!

nacnudllah

Absolutely! You can grab the textless zip for that if you like.

Bruno Prosaiko

Cool game. I really liked it!

I had a question about this part:

- Play a Dungeon card from your hand. If you do, discard any enemy Monsters.

- When an enemy Monster is discarded this way, suffer its Attack damage.

Are the discarded monsters from my hand or monsters already in play left over from other turns? I didn't understand.

Thanks! Glad you’re enjoying it. To your question; you discard the remaining undefeated monsters in play. It represents you running away from them and them getting one last attack against you.

Hi! I'd love to translate the cards to Ukrainian, could you send me the images without the text? Or PDF with editable text? Thank you!

You can contact me on twitter @_RomaB_

nacnudllah

Hi, I'm excited that you're interested in translating it, that's really cool! It will take me a little bit, but I can create a set of the images without the text.

RomaB

Thanks a lot!

nacnudllah

Hi there! I've added a file to the downloads, Inverted Sepulcher - Textless.zip. It should have what you need :)

RomaB

Wow, thank you a lot!😁

TheOmmisah

Is there a version with the cards as individual images?

nacnudllah

I don't have one. Did you want a pdf with each card as a page? Or did you want a zip folder with all the pngs in it?

TheOmmisah

either would work, im experimenting with using these with Foundry VTT.

nacnudllah

(+1)

Sorry it took me so long, but I've added a zip folder of the pngs to the downloads. Enjoy!

Hi again Duncan.

Please, one last question: if I have monsters engaged with me and I dont have a weapon and no scum, I cant attack. The monsters attacks me and I suffer damage?

Thank you very much like always.

nacnudllah

That's correct. I would recommend fleeing in those cases, that will give  you a chance to explore a new room, get some more silver, and hopefully get some Scum or Equipment.

Leona Heidern

Thanks a lot!

Hola!

First of all, congratulations for your game, I love it!

I have a few Doubts about SOLO mode, and I made an account just to ask you.

- bonus Buy phase at first turn, is about a 7 cards hand?

- Inverted Church: heal 1hp means recover one misery?

- "when you take damage more than the armor, draw 1 misery". If I take 3 damage points, I draw 3 miseries? If I take damage from two monsters, I draw 2 miseries?

- You lose the Ravenous Veins (equip scroll) after used? Or you keep it until it is destroyed on a fumble?

Lurk phase:

- how many monsters can I play?

"Your opponent may play monsters costing no more than you Explore roll"

- The Explore roll is the number rolled x10? or the total of silver gained?

- If I gained 60 silver, I must play two monsters of 30 silver? One monster of 60 silver? Two monsters or more of 60 silver?

"You must play as many silver worth of Monsters as possible", what does it mean?

- if I dont make an Explore roll, I must play the most expensive monster possible (even if I did not gained enough silver)? If I had more than one, must play both or all monsters I have in the hand?

Assign: if I have several monsters engaged to me, on a successfull attack, I damage all of them? Or only one?

Fight phase:

- on a turn, I only have 1 Attack per turn? Or can I make more attacks in the same turn until the monster/s or the scum (or myself) dies?

- if I make damage and I dont have a weapon, what damage die must use? I suppose bare hands are d2.

If I want to defeat a Boss monster, I cant play a Dungeon card, because the boss monster would be discarted. But I cant explore because there is a monster. If I dont explore, must I play any more monsters?

Sorry for too many questions. I would need a little solo gameplay example.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi Leona! I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying the game so far! I'll do my best to answer your questions :) I really appreciate you asking, because I think this has shown me one oversight/typo, and also tells me what I should put in an FAQ with my next release (like maybe a few turns of sample gameplay). Here goes:

1 - bonus Buy phase at first turn, is about a 7 cards hand?

- - Correct on both counts.

2 - Inverted Church: heal 1hp means recover one misery?

- - 'Heal' doesn't help your miseries. It just heals damage from your Scum.

3 - "when you take damage more than the armor, draw 1 misery". If I take 3 damage points, I draw 3 miseries? If I take damage from two monsters, I draw 2 miseries?

- - If you take damage (after armor) from two Monsters, draw 2 Miseries. However, even if you take 3 damage, you only draw one Misery if it is all from a single source.

4 - You lose the Ravenous Veins (equip scroll) after used? Or you keep it until it is destroyed on a fumble?

- - Equipment (like Ravenous Veins) is only destroyed after use if it is 'one use'. So you keep Ravenous Veins until it is destroyed by a fumble.

Lurk phase:

5 - how many monsters can I play?

- - You have a temporary pool of silver equal to the silver generated by exploration to spend on playing Monsters. You can play as many as you like as long as their total cost does not exceed the Explore roll total.

6 - "Your opponent may play monsters costing no more than you Explore roll"

The Explore roll is the number rolled x10? or the total of silver gained?

- - It is the total silver gained.

7 - If I gained 60 silver, I must play two monsters of 30 silver? One monster of 60 silver? Two monsters or more of 60 silver?

- - Either of the first two options. "two monsters or more of 60 silver" wouldn't be allowed since the total would exceed 60 silver.

8 - "You must play as many silver worth of Monsters as possible", what does it mean?

- - This just means that when playing Solo, you must maximize the value of the Monsters you play on yourself. No taking it easy on yourself :)

9 - if I dont make an Explore roll, I must play the most expensive monster possible (even if I did not gained enough silver)? If I had more than one, must play both or all monsters I have in the hand?

- - I believe this is an oversight on my part, I'll have to look into it more closely, but I believe the Lurk Phase rules really ought to read "If you did not make an Explore roll AND there are no enemy Monsters in play, they can play ANY one Monster they want." Basically if you don't explore and you're not already fighting something, you encounter the most expensive monster (but not more than one).

10 - Assign: if I have several monsters engaged to me, on a successfull attack, I damage all of them? Or only one?

- - You choose one of the engaged Monsters to attack. Any excess damage spills over to another Monster of your choice (and so forth until you run out of damage).

Fight phase:

11 - on a turn, I only have 1 Attack per turn? Or can I make more attacks in the same turn until the monster/s or the scum (or myself) dies?

- - You only have one attack with your Weapon, and each of your Scum can attack as well. You do not make multiple attacks in a turn unless a card allows you to.

12 - if I make damage and I dont have a weapon, what damage die must use? I suppose bare hands are d2.

- - By the letter of the rules you can't attack without a Weapon, but I think attacking unarmed for D2 damage sounds like a perfect house rule.

13 - If I want to defeat a Boss monster, I cant play a Dungeon card, because the boss monster would be discarted. But I cant explore because there is a monster. If I dont explore, must I play any more monsters?

- - As before, I believe this is an oversight on my part. So the answer is the same as in question 9.

As for Solo play in general, it's just like VS, except that you are your own opponent (hopefully that's helpful). Feel free to ask if you have any more questions or if my answers are unclear.

Happy Gaming!

Hi again!

Thank you very much for all the answers and for the quick reply. Everything is clear now, muchas gracias!

Also, I have a little more questions, please:

- I was using the house rule, when you start the game and draw the first 7 cards, if there is no dungeon card, I made a mulligan and draw 7 cards again until there is a dungeon card. But now I suppose the correct it is: no dungeon, no explore, no monster or fight = play the most expensive monster and fight. Is it correct?

- Ravenous Veins, you have to check armor before make damage to the monsters? All kind of damage make to monsters have to check armor before?

Also, heal hp is only for scum, right? I undersrand nothing heals miseries.

Scum:

- the Vandle Scavenge gain D6 x10 silver when you sell equip. Also, the Headhunter gain D6 silver when kill, but you cant spend that silver (1-6) on nothing. Maybe its better D6 x10 silver when kills, like a bounty/trophy hunter.

- the Deal with the devil: the scum has 2 damage of 3 hp, and attacking I roll 1, a fumble. It is destroy? Or can I reroll and attack again before he die? I guess not because with 3 damage the scum is kill anyway.

- Vial BS: "after dealing damage, deal +1 D6 damage", to the same monster? Or can I target another monster? If I kill the monster with the first attack, can I choose another monster to make 1d6 damage?

- Boss Coronach makes d4 damage when rolling any 1. Who is the target of that damage? I suppose myself, because a scum who roll a 1 is destroyed and placed in the Crypt.

- If I have more enemy monsters than scum, how I assign them to fight? For example, I have 3 monster and 1 scum in play. How assign them to fight?

- The miseries are face down, but if you dont look, maybe the three bosses can be there and never win the game. It is very difficult but  possible. In the other hand, if you look the miseries, you know what cards are not available in the game.

Just curious, where are the Inverted Sepulcher in the map of the Dying Lands?

I really love your game: Mork Borg, cards, dice, very beautiful art, portable, easy to learn and play. I encourage you to make more content and expansions, or maybe the same card game with Cy_borg ;)

Many thanks in advance.

nacnudllah

(+1)

My pleasure, glad I could clear those things up.

1 I was using the house rule, when you start the game and draw the first 7 cards, if there is no dungeon card, I made a mulligan and draw 7 cards again until there is a dungeon card. But now I suppose the correct it is: no dungeon, no explore, no monster or fight = play the most expensive monster and fight. Is it correct?

- - That sounds like a fun mulligan rule, but you are correct about the rules as written.

2 Ravenous Veins, you have to check armor before make damage to the monsters? All kind of damage make to monsters have to check armor before?

- - Correct, all damage to Monsters is reduced by their armor.

3 Also, heal hp is only for scum, right? I undersrand nothing heals miseries.

- - HP healing is only for scum. There is no way to heal miseries.

4 the Vandle Scavenge gain D6 x10 silver when you sell equip. Also, the Headhunter gain D6 silver when kill, but you cant spend that silver (1-6) on nothing. Maybe its better D6 x10 silver when kills, like a bounty/trophy hunter.

- - Good catch! Headhunter is indeed supposed to be D6x10s. I'll get that typo fixed :)

5 the Deal with the devil: the scum has 2 damage of 3 hp, and attacking I roll 1, a fumble. It is destroy? Or can I reroll and attack again before he die? I guess not because with 3 damage the scum is kill anyway.

- - In this example, Kurze Heelhelm has 1 HP remaining, and fumbles an attack roll. He can suffer 1 damage to re-roll it, which will still kill him, but he could additionally hit with the attack.

6 Vial BS: "after dealing damage, deal +1 D6 damage", to the same monster? Or can I target another monster? If I kill the monster with the first attack, can I choose another monster to make 1d6 damage?

- - Vial of Rotblack Sludge adds D6 additional damage to the damage roll for the attack, so it would be dealt to the same Monster, or spill over to another Monster engaged with the attacker.

7 Boss Coronach makes d4 damage when rolling any 1. Who is the target of that damage? I suppose myself, because a scum who roll a 1 is destroyed and placed in the Crypt.

- From the 'Extranea' section in the rules "When a card deals damage to you outside of the Fight Phase, you may choose to deal it to any friendly Scum, or to take it yourself. It is reduced by the Scum’s, or your, Armor."

8 If I have more enemy monsters than scum, how I assign them to fight? For example, I have 3 monster and 1 scum in play. How assign them to fight?

- - "Assign each enemy Monster to either a friendly Scum, or to yourself. You may not assign more than one Monster to a Scum or to yourself until each Monster has been assigned. You may then assign any remaining Scum to enemy Monsters." So first, you have to assign one to each Scum and to yourself, then the remaining Monsters can be assigned as you see fit. In your example of 1 Scum and 3 Monsters, you assign 1 Monster to yourself, 1 to the Scum, and then the third to either yourself or the Scum. If you had a 4th Monster, it could also be assigned either to yourself or to the Scum.

9 The miseries are face down, but if you dont look, maybe the three bosses can be there and never win the game. It is very difficult but  possible. In the other hand, if you look the miseries, you know what cards are not available in the game.

- - It's true! Because there are multiple Boss cards, they would eventually be revealed through suffering miseries, but this can make it difficult for sure.

10 Just curious, where are the Inverted Sepulcher in the map of the Dying Lands?

- - I imagine it being in the Valley of Unfortunate Undead.

I have been working on another set, it's just slow going because of work and life. If you have any ideas for cards though, I wholeheartedly endorse posting them here on itch! If you let me know, I'll create a 7:7 collection so they can be featured :)

Thanks!

Thank you very much again, Duncan. Thanks for the explanation. Everything is clear now.

I cant wait to see the new set of cards, maybe something about cultists or the cult of a forbidden god.

I will be waiting with enthusiasm :)

Thanks! I hope you find good uses for them

These sound like useful guidelines.

Whoops! I forgot to mention Omens in the post (I've update it now). Omens should be balanced against Omen abilities in Mork Borg. However, that sounds like a cool system and I totally endorse developing it as a variant if you want to.

I never got your Instagram message, but I messaged you on Discord just now.

I love the idea of using your layout for translating into Portuguese. I'm sure I can get you some of it, though parts of it will be difficult because they were hacked together in Google Slides. I see that you found me on Instagram. If you want to continue this conversation in chat there, I'm sure we can figure something out!

Wow! Those look fantastic! I love what you've done with them.

FLEE should only trigger when the monster is discarded from play.

Equipment is just for the player. It alters your own attack damage and armor.

Absolutely! You can grab the textless zip for that if you like.

Thanks!

Thanks for the write-up! I really enjoyed reading about your adventure and the details he came up with the flesh out the Shattered Canal.

This is fantastic! I especially like the very subtle map structure indicating adjacent rooms while maintaining the full-page newsprint style of Frontier Scum.

Hadn't even thought about that, it is updated.

Thanks!

Thanks!
