For all of us that have made hundreds, even thousands of attempts fighting and banging wolves with no success, I have figured out a workaround to obtain the cat ears.

1. With the game open, press Shift+O to open the command console.
2. Type in "store.head_cat=1" and hit enter.

You should now have the cat ears in your inventory, allowing you to progress in the quest that requires it.

Note: Normally, I would not suggest using the command console on a Ren'Py game, as doing so can be dangerous and ruins the fun of playing the game normally. However, desperate times call for desperate measures.
