If multiplayer isn't possible, then maybe LAN?

This may be equally hard, but if possible it would be great, because we and my brother love this game and would love to build a word together.

Agreed - Some increasing difficulty would be great, because at a certain point in the game, there is no worries at all pretty much.

All of these suggestions would be lovely to have in the game. Number 6 is a little unrealistic at the stage the game is in now I think, but in the near(ish) future it would be fun to see.

I love this game, but when I first got started, and had to use a hook rather than just nets, the 2d-ness of the scraps and thatch made the items hard to see in the distance(thatch in specific). I like the look of those items, but maybe make them have some height, be more colorful, or have some sort of outlined edges, so they could be more visible in the horizon.
