Right now, anytime I enter the menu and I exit the menu I'm back in Val's mind.  Even if I save and exit the menu.  I'm not ready because nothing I used on the Boss will do any damage at all.  My only option is to get defeated and end up back in the bedroom.

How do you find out if I saved?
I clicked the book icon and nothing happened.

I'm having trouble getting the game to work at all.  Right now, it's nothing but characters standing there.  Changing characters is the only thing I can do, but they just stand there.
