The mechanic evolved as I coded the project. Originally I was going to just have 1 of 4 paths reach an exit but the algorithm would have taken too long to figure out. So I had to adapt and figure out a way to bring development time down. Thanks for checking the project out!

yea, it is pretty luck dependent. I will be updating it after the voting is over to add mechanics that add more thought and less randomness so please revisit it when you get the chance!

Green outline means you can kill the enemy and that increases your level so that you can kill stronger enemies. I have updated the description so that it is more clear.

I should've been more clear but "slaying" the dragon causes all enemies to flee, so you are already killing the dragon.
