Thank you for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed it! A post jam update will be coming soon mostly to add some necessary features like a settings menu, fixes and so on, but I am definitely thinking of properly expanding the game with big features as well at some point, most likely under a different name.
My idea for the dash primarily was to help you put more distance between yourself and the zombies if they are getting too close and maybe also dodge a couple bullets.
Break was great outside of me having a pretty high fever for the last couple of days! How was yours?
As for updates, sadly school is gonna take up a lot of Q1 but you can expect a post jam update for SlavJank(settings menu, controller support, fixes for unintentional jank, more sounds and possibly a health pack to keep you going if you survive for long enough) and minor progress on Downlink.
I've used what I learned while making SlavJank to make a lot of internal improvements to Downlink and I think I am finally at the point where I can start doing levels for it and for such an occasion I thought of remaking the Matrix lobby shootout or maybe a layout of the first level of a boomer shooter done in the office setting.
Also you can always add me on discord if you'd like! I'm not very active in E1M1 server or really most servers I am in because I'm not good with crowds, love the people there but can't help but to feel a little intimidated sometimes y' know.
Thank you for playing and I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Yeah I will definitely continue Downlink, I just needed a little break from it to break apart the monotony(which is ultimately how slavjank arena was born). It is taking extra time because when I made it I was still somewhat of a noob at Unity, so to fix it up and make it into what I believe it should be, I gotta rewrite what is already there first before I add any new content to it.
Thank you for the feedback and I'm glad you liked it! I will most definitely look into adding a proper options screen in the pause menu both for sound and graphics in a future update, as well as fixing the smaller bugs like the ones you mentioned, I think I have an idea of what might be causing those two in particular.
Also, believe it or not, I intentionally left the vending machines uncapped in hopes of someone doing exactly what you did, heheh.
I completed it today again and I wouldn't say it's horrible, I like the mix between the regular third person camera and the SH style camera and the exploration was fun.
I feel like player direction could be improved with text not only on the pause screen but maybe also making the protagonist stop and think to himself when he hits a trigger, or maybe how Yakuza does it if the player stands still for 10-ish seconds to display the text, or you can go full SH and circle the map.
It had slight freezes on my PC which is why I would look into either bringing back the Unity default launcher or making an options menu that can change the resolution and graphics settings, they aren't too hard to customize!
I feel like what's there is a pretty good base and doesn't need to be recreated completely from scratch, just needs stuff added onto it. Nevertheless, I wish you luck with whichever method you choose. Pozdrav!
The gas mask is just a tiny addition I wanted to put in there that you can interact with, you can read up on it here if you want: http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-1499
Thanks for playing, the version that you are playing wasn't made in 2 days though, this is the new and heavily updated version that adds more areas, fixes bugs, adds hardcore mode and a new alternate ending to the game!
