I WOULD love to recommend this to anybody reading-- the art style is very cute, I'm really impressed by the spritework and the talking images and the audio-- music and SFX-- are very well done. The story is simple but compelling nonetheless.
However... The main character controls like she's on ice all the time, which is beyond frustrating even without considering this is a game where most of the difficulty is in platforming. With endless drops that look just like any other path until it abruptly resets you, it escalates to teeth-pulling levels of frustration. Not to mention that there's an invisible life system which will reset you back to the beginning of the level if you die three times... not that you're told about this. At all. Have fun getting to the level boss, dying because of your character getting stuck on their head when you mistime the finicky jump for the finickier combat (or on the corner of a wall, which happens non-stop) and getting a game over without knowing why.
Combat is frustrating too-- you need to find JUST the right spot to stand in and hit enemies... or use the magic attack that you're never told you have. Took me into the second level to figure out what that was... by accident.
I really really WANT to recommend this game-- it's adorable and for a game jam project it's pretty admirable. It's got heart, character, and clearly effort went into it, effort you have to commend. And I HATE being the one to say this, but it's not... fun. Only play this if you're the kind of person who enjoys the difficulty of game functionality, not game mechanics.
