The crystals you collect can be used to remove transformations, even permanent ones, in the hot springs though the menu that lets you manage moves and gear.
One thing you might want to consider is a self lose move or a lower defense on self move (possibly when fully coated?) due to the fact that after a few levels or after getting some equipment, the enemies cant even damage you, making the loss scene almost impossible without loading an earlier save.
