I was actually wrong in my report, I assumed it was an issue with events due to some of my menus working fine. But it seems the crash actually happens only when in basic menus, not when variables update.

I'm having the same issue, it happens when updating an event. I have an event that doesn't appear unless a control variable is met. when it is met while on the same map as the event it causes this crash.
