Chapter 1 is out and FREE TO PLAY!

Divine Omen is a dark fantasy/horror visual novel with a little added flair - it features hundreds of hand-drawn characters and environments,  dozens of fully CG scenes, important choices to make, point-and-click gameplay elements, a journal that remembers your choices and holds valuable lore, and a story that keeps you guessing.

Chapter 1 is just the beginning of Avan's story. With five parts planned, there's still plenty to see. Guide Avan through a dark and beautiful world as he works with his companions to uncover the truth about what happened to the young girl the city guard found in the woods. You'll soon find out that the answer is more sinister than either of you could have anticipated.

You make a really great point! You see a lot of games and even movies and shows that delve into the darkest, goriest themes but they're terrified of showing a normal relationship in the middle of it all. Oftentimes, especially in the US where I'm from, we have no issue showing excessive violence onscreen but romance is much, much more heavily censored...it never made much sense to me. I'll definitely keep that in mind as I approach the later chapters in the game and explore Robin and Avan's relationship a little deeper!

It's finally time...the demo for my game, Divine Omen, is out right here on itch.io! Divine Omen is a dark fantasy horror game where you take on the role of Avan, a young doctor haunted by his past mistakes. When the body of a young child is found outside of town under mysterious circumsances, Avan is called upon to investigate. In a bid to ease his guilty conscience and prove to the world he's not the monster they believe him to be, he vows to solve the mystery and bring the killer to justice. When a strange message comes to him in a dream, he begins to realize the truth is darker than he ever imagined.

This is a story-based game made in Ren'Py, a visual novel engine. Alongside interacting with the characters and making decisions on Avan's behalf, you utilize point-and-click gameplay to explore the world and uncover its secrets. Avan will note these secrets in his journal, a helpful tool that holds information about the world, its people, a number of hand-drawn illustrations, and the story so far. 

This demo will take roughly 45 minutes to complete.  If you play and enjoy it, please leave a nice comment! It helps and it makes me happy :-) I'm working on this project all by myself, and so far I've done everything on my own save for the sound effects and music (which I'm getting around to, but I'm an artist, not a musician!).  Find the game here!
