to be fair i don't really expect there to be a physical real inspiration, almost all of the real places (or their analogues) depicted in game use real photos as background, while the guesthouse almost exclusively uses cg renders.

and on that note geographical accuracy isn't really given much importance (which is fine), just look at rune's tea house, for which the exterior is an irl gay bar in iceland, but the inside uses images from a tea place in poland- or the philharmonic which doesn't look like the one in tromsø but is a perfect match to the national forum of music in Wrocław

i have done some investigation on the location of things in the vn compared to irl (screenshotting backgrounds and google reverse searching) and with the help of some dialogue and context clues, i believe dawn chorus takes place somewhere in the outskirts of Tromsø (most probably somewhere on the island of Kvaløya because that way the guesthouse would have a view of the city and the sea, as is implied in some dialogue) I don't know if there IS a real guesthouse on the real island but i presume it must be inspired by something similar somewhere nearby-

What IS the moon flicker? does down chorus have hidden lore?? is it somehow related to the [alleged] saucy arne sprites??? so many questions-

does anyone here have any ideas on what the "moon flicker" might even be?? i swear to god i have seen at least a passing mention of the moon flicker at least once in each route [maybe not klaus] and i am genuinely going insane trying to guess what it might be OR if it even has any significance to begin with

and if it ends up being that it doesn't, then WHY is it so widespread? is it just a literary motif? like the "ships at sea" thing? is it just coincidence? i could somewhat easily find some dialogue sources to count how many times its been mentioned but im literally going to pass out from exaustion at any moment so not today definetly not now

so yeah if anyone here knows even the littlest bit about this or have your own theories please share your knowledge. thanks chat

[Ramble alert];[maybe spoilers?]

I suppose i'm late.
I feel electric now maybe still not fully here, but i must say this at least once, thank you for ever embarking in this project, creating a game must be hard, i can only imagine.
I had to stop mid-reading of Devon's route, day 4, the scene in the café, the photos, his stream of thoughts about the travel, i didn't even realise it at first, but his struggle against loneliness, himself, and his environment hit all too close to home. I couldn't help but cry like i haven't done in so long, it was so good, i felt seen in a way, correspondend. This story, Dawn Chorus as a whole, has played a really special role in my life, it was to some extente my gateway to the furry community, and my first vn, i fell in love with the cozy atmosphere, and the characters and their stories. I must say i feel somewhat ashamed i never could give anything in return to this piece of media that has brought so me so much self-realization, its weird but i feel somewhat indebted.
Before my meaning is lost in this word salad, i meant to express my most heartfelt thank you. I watched Dawn Chorus grow from the one or two routes that extended into day 2, to now, nearing the finish line in a way, and i like to think it is becoming someting beautiful. Have a great one.
